rediffusion
Has anybody got any experience of using CD recorders with MDs? If I record from my MD to the CD recorder using an optital cable will it transfer all the individual tracks rather than one long track? Also, will a CD recorder allow me to record 2nd generation digital tracks from MD via the optical cable to the CD recorder [ie tracks that have already been optically transfered from one MD to another]? I have a Sony MD deck with optical output. I haven't decided which CD recorder to get yet. Any info would be appreciated.

8
Ah, yes, I can field this one... It preserves all the track marks just like an optical CD-> MD copy does. I highly recommend a Tascam recorder---I believe all of their models accept data CD-R's (which is key---you don't want to have to spend more money on music CD-R's)....I used to have one, and was very happy w/ the results. To answer your other question, you should have no problem making 2nd generation digital copies if you have a pro deck. I've never had a problem w/ mine. BTW, what kind of MD deck do you have?
