mAjEsTiC
basically all u need if u have that XiTel PC Link is just any software that plays back mp3's such as Windows Media Player or WinAMP or whatever...all u do is make sure that the PC Link is connected from ur PC's USB and ur MD's OPTICAL IN jack and it's just a matter of hitting the play button on the PC's software and Record on the MD...and no the small CD inside the caddy can't be removed and "burnt" as MD uses Magneto-Optic technology to record and read things (uses magnetic fields and lasers) whereas CD's are only optical...so if u did take it out and put it in a CD ROM drive it probably wouldn't be able to read what was on it...and by player did u mean as a "playback only MD unit"??? if so then i would say that Sony, Sharp & Panasonic make good units...i've owned units from these three brands and can vouch for them... Guest Anonymous
ok I have managed to work it (i've read the manuaL and it says to switch on the XiteL unit from the soun properties) but it records them as a single track...so I've downloaded the PC-2-MD software and it works great..I felt like buying it ...Are there any other "FREE" softwares that work nicely??is it logical to by that software??by the way I was mentioning the unit..How old is it??? and thank yyou for your help majestic.. mAjEsTiC
there is a program called mp32md that's free that i use...it works relatively well actually so u can take a look for that on google or something...the R501 isn't that old actually...it was in the same age bracket as my N1 so about 2 yrs ago i think it came out (i can't really remember)... Guest Anonymous
You can use the MP3 player software "WinAMP" (http://www.winamp.com/) along with a plug-in called WinCue, which will make the gaps between tracks that your MD unit requires to make track breaks. WinAMP is basically freeware (like MusicMatch JukeBox is has some useless additional features which you have to pay to activate or improve) and the WinCue plug-in is also freeware. mAjEsTiC
i don't think it does transfer the track titles as optical can't transfer track titles from PC -> MD...so ur kinda stuck with titling each one individually i'm afraid...o.O very daunting task especially if u record in LP4...
