Would love to know the answer too as i'm getting ready to buy a ibook! Anyone here have a ibook? if so has it been good to ya? Has MD ever been compatible to mac at all? :shock:

i've used an iBook for about a week and so far it was pretty good...most of my friends have no problem with it at all so it shouldn't be a problem...i'm not too sure that NetMD was even supported by the Mac...hopefully it will be in the next generation as it gets annoying trying to transfer songs from the Mac -> MD...

The publicity suggests that the device supports the portable-storage standards; which would mean it would work on a mac (and linux!)

I'm interested in the technical side of this - how is handling track storage now, is that handled by the same thing (allowing a mixture of music and files on the same disk) etc.; I'd imagine that this isn't the case.

Oh, how I wish Sony would move the ATRAC encoder onto the drives and off the software!

Huh? They are on the "drives". Anything you record through the optical in or microphone is automatically converted into ATRAC.

Yes, but not for netMD - it is encoded in the software. Which is why people like me can't write decent 3rd party programs for netmd: the API is hidden behind all the ATRAC patents. sad.gif
