Guest Anonymous
Does anyone have any idea if the new version of SonicStage (that will ship w/ Hi-MD) will have a feature that will enable you to normalize tracks when transferring to the MD unit? To me - that is one thing that is nice about MP3s - if you are making a compilation from many different sources - you can normalize the volume levels. Really can't do that w/ MD as of now (unless you are using normalized MP3s as your source).
Peter Ravn
On newer MD decks you can do it on SP tracks (not possible on LP tracks)- its called Scale Factor Edit and it enables also fad-in and fade-out. About Sonic Stage 2.0 I think we will have to wait until next month when CD walkmans with SS 2.0 will be available.
actorlife
yeah i had the same question. I have a compilation my friend made me on CD and some songs were higher and others were low. But i also tried it with another Pre-recorded CD's and the same thing. I was recommended MP3gain has anyone tried this? would this be the only thing that can work? http://www.geocities.com/mp3gain/

actorlife
Hey Majestic, You are so great in answering questions Thanks! I have another one...Can i get my (Sony Deck) JE480 to set to record a radio program from like 6-11 AM? like a timer, is that possible? My Sharp SG11 does it! If it does i might consider selling my SG11.

KJ_Palmer
Unfortunately the JE480 does not have a timer recording facility. Only the mid-high end decks (JE780, JB980) can use a timer. On decks, the timer is an external device you plug in between the deck and the wall socket. Gives you maximum flexibility for timed recordings. Most bookshelf systems have a built in timer for recording, but usually only allow one program to record.
mmp64
Unless I'm missing something - MP3Gain is intended solely for batch normalizing MP3 files (obviously) - how would this help in normalizing either CD audio files - or .omg files - unless, of course, you ripped your CDs to MP3 first, then imported into SonicStage - which I don't want to do. What I'd like is a feature that will normalize tracks as they are transferred to MD - much like MusicMatch Jukebox. Thanks for all of your input.
