Guest Anonymous
I'm coming back to the MD world after like 7 years (I originally had a Sharp 701) and while looking around for a portable music player, I determined that MD seems to be the most affordable route for me atm. So here's what I want: Cheap! Net-MD A legible display (Backlit preferably) I really want something with a jog shuttle. Option for Single double AA powered Don't need but wouldn't mind: Line in LCD Remote (If someone could recommend a model where I could buy a decent compatible backlit LCD remote LATER, that would work) Preferably not silver colored. (I like the colored models!) I know it's tough to come up with the right combo when Sony is involved, but I'll make compromises, of course. So any suggestions? Superbaldguy
I'd suggest the Sharp DR420 from this criteria.
KJ_Palmer
Yes, the DR420 certainly seems to be flavour of the month at the moment, and with good reason. The more I'm listening to my new one the more I'm liking it. It doesn't have any fancy features (no jog/shuttle etc.), but seems solid in a basic way and is CHEAPO. Moreover, the "Auvi" digital amp gives a sound which is up there (or I daresay maybe even surpasses?) with the best of the rest. Anyway, good to see you over here SBG (T-Board still down? :rasp: ). Superbaldguy
Yes, Kevin, the Board died today but I've been meaning to come here for quite some time. Sometimes we tend to overlook some of the simpler things in life, and MD equipment is no different. I am not at all struck by some of Sony's low-end stuff and I'm sure units like the DR420 can trump some of this cheap stuff. We'll have to see if Sony's new Hi-MD units follow this sad trend. toolowtwo
Didn't know the T-Board was down - Sorry to hear that. Good to see names I recognize though
