F_C_Eric
Hi, I'm new to minidisc and looking for recommendations. I will be mostly using it to record rock shows, then uploading to my computer. I am thinking about the Sharp MD-DR7, but I'm not sure if I can control it without the remote, and I don't want the remote if I am sneaking it into shows. Also, for my purposes, should I wait for HI-MD? Thanks in advance.
Christopher
I believe that if you want to upload your recordings digitally and faster than realtime, you should wait and purchase a Hi-MD recorder. Whilst the DR7 is a good choice, I think if you sit tight for a few more months you'll be much more satisified with the awesome functionality of Hi-MD. I'm thinking you would do well with a NH900. Guest Anonymous
Yeh. I mean you could buy a second han one for cheap which will serve you well, and if you decide you want a hi md you can get one. I just bought a new sharp minidisc and am maybe regretting not waiting for the lowest priced hi md model ($200) to come out, which i bought at that same price. Christopher
An oldie but a good unit indeed! Here's some more information about it if you haven't viewed this already: http://minidisc.org/part_Sharp_MD-MS701+MS702.html Anyway, 10mW output and Sharp's wonderful recording options. I am sure that you will find great success with this unit. Be careful of the infamous UTOC errors, though! Be sure to write back and tell us your impressions. Thanks in advance. The DR7 is a great unit for live recording and you do not need to use the remote, as the recording functions can be activated via the unit itself. Unless you need to record more than 80 Mins in SP, 160 Mins in LP2 and 320 Mins in LP4, and if you don't mind uploading to your PC in real-time, then the DR7 should suit you fine. F_C_Eric
I got it on Monday, last night it gave me the utoc error. I guess I'm back in the market for the Sharp MD-DR7.
