mAjEsTiC
is that mic a cardiod??? not soo sure about the specs of mics sorry but we had the same problem with one of our recordings at a seminar and it worked out when we got two of the mics and a balanced audio unit...only then did we end up getting stereo sound... Guest Anonymous
I think that's a mono mic for a video camera. Look at the plug--does it have two circles around the plug (just above the end) or one? Compare it to your headphone plug. If it has just one circle, it's mono and you can buy a mono-to-stereo adapter at Radio Shack or a hardware store.
Guest Anonymous
There's an easier solution--switch to MONO recording on the MD. Shoulda thought of that in previous post.
Mystyler
If you do get the mono to stereo adapter, it will still essentially be mono (I don't think it will matter much for your application) but you'll get sound from both sides of your headphones if indeed the mic you are using is mono. Or you could try mono recording - it'd be cheaper!
Guest Anonymous
Ok I ended buying the adapter and it worked fine. My mic has only one strip so its not Mono to stereo, its STEREO, to Mono. Hmmm I really need to boost the recording sound up a bit. How do I do this? thanks greatly
KJ_Palmer
You should be able to turn the recording level up. Which recorder (make/model) do you have? Sharps can do it by using the volume controls, Sonys usually have to go through the menu.

Guest Anonymous
Put a disc in, slide the Record button on and push Pause. Push Menu button until you see RecVolume. You have a choice of AutoRec or Manual--maybe you have it on Manual at a low volume. Try AutoRec, or if you prefer Manual then raise the volume. A disc has to be in the recorder to do this, or RecVolume doesn't show up on the menu.
