I am looking for a mini disc recorder for live recording. Not big rock concerts but more intimate club type & theatre performances. I've read that sharp is the best in this regard as it has the best preamps for live recording. However, it seems like sony md is favored by most everybody. I'm wondering if I should just wait for the new Hd models to come out...not for the increased storage space but for the easier uploads. How much easier will it be to upload to PC with HD? Will the end result be better quality with HD? Am I thinking too much about this.....should I just grab one of the middle of the road sony players and be done with it?. Thank you in advance for any model reccomendations or other info re: the above. :wacky: Trail

Yes, definitly wait until the release of Hi-MD. The current NetMD units require lots of effort to upload music up to a computer [and recording in real-time]. With Hi-MD, all you should need to do is tell SonicStage what to do, and it'll do it at high speeds.

Re: Sony vs. Sharp, I don't know.

basically as iceeedtea said above wait for the Hi-MD's to come out before making up ur mind between Sharp and Sony...Sharp have the advantage of recording over Sony and as for sound as well i think Sharp has the edge (but it's more biased towards the bass than the treble IMO)...Sony on the other hand is what most people use for a ranged music taste and seem quite content with their sound quality...
