skuntbehavior
just picked up a used md player. i am a total newb to mds and i just want to record some tunes on a disc to listen to. if this doesn't work for me i will look to a newer player that offers less of a hassle to hook up. this unit has an INPUT/opt/line/mic and OUTPUT/phnes/remote connection. i have a hercules gtxp sound card with the breakout box with endless connection options. you think for the life of me i could figure this one out? nope. on the back of the sound card there is an aux out and on the breakout box front panel i have a line inputs connection. can someone guide me through a connection process that will allow me to record? i am using musicmatch (retail). thank you. mAjEsTiC
well basically ANALOGUE : look for a LINE OUT of the soundcard and the LINE IN to the MD and connect a normal stereo 3.5 cable in both the sockets and hit play on MusicMatch and Record on the MD unit... DIGITAL : similar thing as above but look for a TOSLink out of the soundcard (a Square one prefereably) and a OPTIC IN (circle) on the MD unit you have...press play on MusicMatch and record on the MD...that's basically it for recording... A440
If you're looking for an iPod-style digital transfer, you would have to get a NetMD unit, newer than the Aiwa. But that Aiwa should be good for recording live gigs.
