Trouble entering service mode n710

I attempted to do the hacking to unlock the hidden features of my md. The features did become unlocked but I have several problems. The volume buttons don't work any more, not on the unit or the remote and it's always on full volume. The play/enter button, when I press it, the screen changes to some weird bar that looks like S---=---F. Other than that, it's all good.

When I tried to enter service mode to fix it up, I couldn't. I'm sure my key sequence isn't wrong because I wasn't able to enter service mode before. I understand that I don't hold down the volume down button but the group button. My software version is 1.600.

Help any1?

Can't nobody help?

If you can't be bothered reading all dat...all I'm asking is for alternative methods to enter service mode for an MZ-N710. I know of another key combination but it doesnt' work either. Only way I know of is shorting the circuit at some specific point. Any other ways dat i dont need to open the md up?

You can try to enter the magic sequence using the remote (holding STOP instead of GROUP). See also

Once you're in the service menu, try to get to register 63, set it to 0, then power off and on again. That should reset register 61 and 62 to their defaults.

I advice to be very careful when moving around in the service menu. If you get lost, press STOP to get back to the root menu. Do not press PAUSE (PAUSE writes settings to NVRAM) unless you are absolutely sure about it.
