Guest Anonymous
I know a lot of users are having issues with NERO and some of the bundled CD's that came with burners don't even have ImageDrive on them which you need. Well Polaroid hosts the full version of NERO 5.5 at this link... http://www.polaroidmemory.com/support/supp...rt_download.htm I cannot remember if ImageDrive was a listed option when I installed this version, but it is there, after installing NERO search for the word "Image" and you will find "NeroImageDriveInst". This is the installation for ImageDrive. So now hopefully a few users will stop using OpenMG and just use the NERO - Simple Burner method that works the way things should work. IN CASE YOUR CLUELESS ABOUT THE STEPS FOR STATED METHOD 1.) Open NERO and create a new Audio CD. 2.) Click the new button on the right of the window. 3.) Click the button at the top of the screen (below the toolbar) that says Choose Recorder. 4.) Select the Image Recorder and click OK. 5.) Add the files (MP3, WAV, CDA, WMA, RA) you want to put on your MD. 6.) Click on Write CD under File on the toolbar. 7.) A window will open up, click the Write button. 8.) Another window will open, save the .nrg image file to the desktop, or where ever you wish, it is just easier to find it on the desktop later. 9.) Click Save and NERO will begin writing the .nrg file to your hard drive. This will take some time depending on how many tracks you added. 10.) Let Nero finish and exit Nero. 11.) Open Nero ImageDrive. 12.) Click the button with the ... and select the .nrg file you created, SEE WHY YOU SHOULD PUT IT ON YOUR DESKTOP?!? 13.) Click the Load button. If you have AutoInsert Notification turned on an Audio CD will play. This is what tricks Simple Burner into thinking that you put a CD into your computer to rip audio tracks from. 14.) Open Simple Burner and select the drive the Image was mounted to. You should know the routine from there. I havent figured out how to title the tracks in NERO and have those titles recognized by Simple Burner. There are programs out there that will title the tracks, but I haven't used any of them because its not that time consuming to title the tracks by hand in Simple Burner by selecting the track and hitting F2. SO, any questions?!? ....To title your tracks via the above method, use a utility called M3U2SB. This freeware utility integrates Nero/Demon tools and Simple burner - and works pretty well. tmeg
One question, does this version need a key? If you need a key, then one could download Nero also from the developers (ahead). If you don't need a key, then thats a nice finding  But I have to say, that the m3u2sb idea with this other (really free) virtual drive is better and 100% legal. Btw. for recording "real" CDs I now use the digital out of my DVD player and record in SP mode. For MP3s I would say m3u2sb is best. But thats has been said probably a few times before  So I would suggest a new FAQ with nice directions for new users
Guest Anonymous
Being totally stupid can someone please explain what the term "mount" means in the above post? I am getting my new Sony n505 NetMD player soon and would like to use the Nero method to record. I have nereo v5.something which has the "virtual drive" feature. Basically can someone put a step by step guide for dummies!!?
Jermz
No, a key is NOT needed for this installation of NERO. ALSO NERO ImageDrive is going to create a "dummy" CD-ROM drive with a letter on your system. MOUNTING that drive is the same process that many UNIX/LINUX users are familiar with. So when you MOUNT the image you are loading it to the drive for the OS to read. AS for a dummies guide, thats what I am attempting to do with this post, so any questions are more than welcome. OH BTW... I have found that images that contain more than 6gig or 300 minutes of audio will generate an error code 1500 when you attempt to mount the image in NERO. tmeg
... and I found that images over 150 minutes do not work with simple burner :? But thats still a lot and its easy to make 2 images
Jermz
NERO is terrible at giving accurate times for the images. I have had a 160 minute image work with Simple Burner, and then there are times that I get "Not Enough Room" errors with images as small as 150 so who knows whats really going on... All I know is I can put my music on my MD with out all the OpenMG hassle, good enough for me. 8)

Guest Anonymous
OK I used the above method and it worked a dream! BUT!!! I deleted the old image (after "ejecting" the drive) then made a new image (as above) and Simpleburner couldn't find it..... Any suggestions? Bazirker
did you load the image to the virtual drive using imagedrive?
Guest Anonymous
yes as I said it worked fine 1st time but now just says "insert CD" tried it a few times now.....
Bazirker
Simple Burner has a little box on the left side towards the top that allows you t select the drive letter that SB is trying to find a cd in. Make sure that you have your virtual drive selected and not a different drive. I doubt that's your problem because my copy of SB automatically detects loaded cd's, but it's worth double-checking. Otherwise I don't really have any idea why it won't work if you're doing exactly what you did before.
Guest Anonymous
Hi. Sorry (hope I don't sound that stupid) but I'm new at this and would like to know if Sonicstage will work with the MZ-N707. Neither OpenMG or Simple Burner will work on my computer (I got as far as installing the software, but "External device/media not found" always comes up). I think it's because the application software isn't supported in an environment where an upgrade has been made i.e. Windows 95 to Windows 98. [Can someone please verify this?] Thus, is there an alternative? What about Nero? (I saw the post about it.) Can Nero be used inclusively? That is, can I use Nero without having to use Simple Burner? Thanks. Any help/suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
Guest Anonymous
Well that works a treat!! Just one question? Does the same limit on transfers apply when using the nero method? I'm using simple burner and it tags my tracks onto mini disk so will it stop me from making more than 3 copies?
Bazirker
Nope, no limits at all. It doesn't require extra hard drive space to store tracks (as long as you delete the image when you're done,) the tracks aren't protected, and you can check out tracks until you're blue in the face. Great stuff, huh? I almost never use anything other than simple burner for these reasons.

Guest Anonymous
I haven't seen any post(s) about these, but if there are any I really did give it a good look. I use the Nero method and I've had a few problems with it. 1) Nero does not allow me to copy more than 28 tracks on my mz-n505. The 28th track it will be about 1:55:03 in length and then the 30th will be around -1:47.03 in length regardless of time length. I solved this problem by just making 2 images instead of one. Has anyone had this problem? 2) Nero for some reason reverses the order of the beginning and ending track. Example of track order would be: 16-02-03 . . . 15-01. My winamp player does the same thing. Is this an OS problem or software problem? I run WIN2000 Pro. B M
tmeg
1) Yes this is known, the CD standard does not allow longer discs than perhaps 150 min. 2) I noticed this a longer time ago, very annoying! I burned about 3 CDs with wrong Title order. I think this is "fixed" in the latest version, but in older versions you have to pay attention which file you select first and then, which file you select last. So start selecting the tracklist with the last track and then Shift+Click the first! If you drag+drop from the explorer use a similar technique. Drag then the first track of the selected list. Guest Anonymous
Hi I just got the MZ-N505 and was planning on using this Nero method, until I found that Nero takes up almost 300MB. Is it normally such a large program (this is really big for a program, right?), or has Poloroid added something? Is there some way to get just what I need? Sorry, maybe Im asking for a lot here, but this just seems ridiculous. It will take something like 27 hours to download on my computer, which isn't a bad computer or anything (I think it has 566mhz of RAM - I know thats a joke to some of you though). Anyways, any suggestions would be helpful. If there aren't any options, I'll probably end up getting it anyway. Thanks again, I appreciate it. And I figured I could buy nero from their website, but I was wondering if anyone knew where to get it for free? I dont understand why anyone is getting this download from the Poloroid site if it's like 300MB when it's only supposed to be 11. Thanks for the help. Guest Anonymous
Sorry I haven't been paying attention to the boards. AS for the bitching about the 300 MB download... this is a FULL un-locked version of NERO, the reason for the huge size of the file is it supports all languages. It only takes about 45 MB when installed, but the language pack is enourmous. The 11 MB download from ahead.com is a locked demo version. I seriously doubt that it support for NERO ImageDrive which is the program you really need to use the NERO -> SimpleBurner method. Sure you can buy NERO from Ahead... but I am just offering an alternative. As for Daijoubu saying I am passing along "warez" or better know as spyware/viruses, he/she is totally wrong. I would do nothing of the sort. I am VERY particular about what goes onto my computer. Especially when I have 4000 MP3 files I shouldn't have. I hope this clears up all the drama that has been going on in here during my absence.

Daijoubu
Jermz: I don't even know where Joe got his file from, how can i accuse you? And warez have nothing to do with spywares/viruses btw, the 11mb download is a fully functional, up-to-date version of Nero, the only limitation is the recording speed if i'm not mistaken, those who have bought nero can upgrade for free via the same download, it's in no way a version with reduced functionalities
Guest Anonymous
I never downloaded that "warez" file because of it's size. To Jermz- I don't really see all this drama you are referring to, but I have asked a lot of questions and I guess Im sorry if somehow that is what pissed you off. Anyways, I can't downoad nero from it's own site because my browser closes everytime I got there (as well as everytime I try and "Reply" in Yahoo! - another computer issue Im having....). I did get it over Kazaalite though, except I can't use it because I don't have the password or key or whatever. Does anyone know how to get around this? Thanks. MD4DNV
Joe, I did some research. It seems that the Imagedrive program is not included in the 11 MB version. It is only available from the CD version. Or you can download it from the link above that jermz gave us. I am still looking for a full version without the language pack because the 300 Mb file will take me 41 hrs to download! Stinkin' 28.8 dial-up. To answer your question about Warez, it is a file that gives you the program with an illegal crack or access. Alot of them can contain a virus or spyware. Hope this helps. Guest Anonymous
Okay, I'm totally new to all this so this might be a hyper-obvious question but here it is: If I buy the Nero 5.5.9 "CD Burning Software", is this all I need? Everytime I look into it, I see absolutely no mention of "Simple Burner". I've got no problem buying the software off the shelf (in fact I'm a bit leary of downloading it) but I want to know I'm buying the right thing. Also, I have the Roxio Easy CD Creator software on my computer right now (it came installed with my XP package) - am I right that I should uninstall it before installing the NERO? Thanks for the help, this forum is great - long live freedom of information.
Jermz
Simple Burner comes with most NetMD players... if you didnt get that CD for some reason there are a few places that still may have it availible for download. As for uninstalling Easy CD Creator, there really isnt a need to do that, as far as I know Nero and Roxio can co-exist... if anyone knows differently speak up. Eric The Red
I thought I had found an even simpler version than Dino's. I came across a program called CD Anywhere that allows you to create virtual CD Drive and then mount an image in it. I just got my MD Rcorder today from my local Sony outlet....I downloaded a shareware version of Nero my company has on our ftp site, but it did not include the ImageDrive software... So I went looking to purchase Nero, couldn't find it and ended up with this program. I thought it would be the solution. A few simple points and clicks and I had created a virtual CD Drive with a mounted image...no lengthy burn process...I simply mounted it and started Simple Burn....it took it a little while, but it eventually picked up the virtual drive and recognized seven tracks. I sent it to my MD Recorder (I picked up the MZ-S1 model) and it seemed to record it. But, in playback I had nothing but seven empty tracks....I'm not sure why it didn't work.... SOooooo....now I'm downloading the Nero version from the Polaroid site (It's nice having DSL ) I'm going to continue playing witht his CD Anywhere...it should work and i don't understand why it didn't...... Guest Anonymous
Hi, I tryed this method and it seemed to be working but when all the files loaded to simple burner and I put in the info and pressed record, it gave me an error message at 49% thru the first song.  I NEED HELP SO MUCH plz help
Guest Anonymous
i tried the dino method and worked ok...but none of the mp3 tags got transferred...i guess i have to live with that ... also...anyway to use the "nero" method with a winamp playlist???
