So I recently received an R55 remote from a disgruntled friend who lost a bet:), besides that, I am trying to use it with my MZ-N510 recorder. However this is really weird, becuase when I press play on the remote, the backlight starts up and it appears to be working, but then as soon as the MD plays, the remote just turns off. But if i press play on the md player, the remote works until I press something on the remote, and then it just turns off. When I use the ac adapter, it seems that it all works like a dream. This is really confusing, and if someone could please give some insight into how to fix this, i would be grateful.

I am pretty sure that the 11EL and the 12ELK remotes are fully compatible with this unit. You can purchase these at audiocubes, and the link to that site is in the Links section at the top of the forum, or you could try eBay.

If my assumptions are correct, the only functions that are possible are the LCD displayed for 2 seconds (perfectly) and then turned off for no reason, menu displays don't work, play mode/display buttons don't work and all others, however, work fine. Right?

well when the unit is plugged into an aux power source (ie the ac adapter), all the functions work fine. When i use a battery, the display disappears and the buttoms turn into group forward/backward buttons for some reason. the fast forward, rewind, and stop buttons work fine, but all the other ones change the group setting.

anyway im most likely going to get the 12elk, thanks for you advice.
