kennz
Hello, Can any one help please, all of a sudden my cd r drive has disappeared from the drive list. It is a Mitsumi cdr and has worked well recently. It was with the pc and i cant use the restore disc as i have upgraded to xp.
mAjEsTiC
does the drive itself get recognised in the BIOS? if so then i think that XP doesn't seem to want to detect it...try looking at the device manager and see if it's shown there...if not try using a different IDE connector inside the case or just make sure the IDE connection is secure...if that doesn't work then i think u may have to reformat and reinstall again... Christopher
You may have to reinstall the drivers for it; go to Mitsumi's website or call/e-mail their technical support and I'm sure they'll be able to give you a hand.
iceeedtea
Just to test, put in your bootable restore disc and change your BIOS settings so the boot order == CD-RW drive first. If it is able to boot from it, that signifies it's not a hardware failure, at least. Better yet. Go complain to the manufacturer of your computer. mAjEsTiC
if it's detected go and try d/l the new ASPI drivers from ADAPTEC and see if it gets recognised then...but yeh as kurisu and iceeedtea said above go back and complain to the pc manufacturer and get them to replace it if possible...
