Must Have Timer!!!
Dear Sony (yes, I know they aren't reading...I can dream, can't I?), I'm not asking for much. VCRs have had timer recording since the dark ages and now days VCRs are practically free in our breakfast cereal (we can buy at least six VCRs for the price of one Hi-MD portable). All I want from at least one Hi-MD product are the following three features: 1. timer recording 2. timer recording 3. timer recording Oh, one more just popped into my head: 4. timer recording I will not buy any Hi-MD hardware until timer recording is available in at least one model. I'll wait for a deck if necessary. And the programming had better be comparable to a $50 VCR. I'm not interested in idiotic external timer schemes that cut the power to the deck in the middle of making a recording (!!!). Thanks for reading me plea (I can dream, can't I?). Sincerely yours, Must Have Timer!!!
KJ_Palmer
You just need to be patient really. The Sony LAM-X1 will almost certainly have a timer, as do all other such bookshelves. And the external timers that are used with decks work well and are more flexible (in terms of programming) than built in timers. They only turn off in the middle of a recording if you program them to.
MDX-400
LOL nice requirements But don't you think your chosen username is gonna look weird if you continue to post here? Haha... Anyway it'll be funny for those who remember your first post! Hopefully there will be a JB or ES Hi-MD deck released and that would fulfill the timer feature. As for now, as KJ noted, the LAM might indeed be equipped with that feature. But it's gonna be a. expensive and b. probably not worth what it costs.
