Tomorrow I will be the owner of a brand new MZNF810CK and for the past few days I have been browsing this forum...very informative.

:wacky: The question(s) I have are these.

I have heard so much bad stuff about burning CDs with this gear that I printed out a posting by a fellow who advocates NERO...and I have NERO plus all the updates. The thread I am referring to is

http://www.minidisct.com.forum/showthread....=&threadid=4825

Based on what is written at this thread, what do most of you suggest?? Is there some of the enclosed software that comes with this rig which should not be loaded??

As well, what about the new SSonic 2.0 version...as stated on this board...should I load that as well.??

OS Win2KPro/ 800mghz/ 250kRAM

I am very new to the minidisk concept and don't want to screw up my computer, nor do I want to trash my new toy. Would appreciate any plain language help you can pass.

Thanks in advance

i use win2kpro as well. i use sonicstage2 and have had no problems with it. the only thing i do not like about it is the track protection. when you record a song onto minidisc via ss2, it can only be deleted with ss2 so if you are not connected your your pc, you cannot delete the song. a bit annoying, but simple burner did not have this issue. dont know if simple burner works with ss2 though.

i record straight onto ss2 at lp2 then to my minidisc. sound is fine.

i imagine they will supply you with openmg - basically the same as sonic stage 1.5 but not as good as sonictage2. i would not bother installing openmg if that's what you get with it and install sonicstage2 instead. it has better features like no maximum number of recordings out to minidiscs - openmg had a limit of three per song, albeit you could get around this. the link below should tell you more on ss2.

I went to the link and read all about the ss2 and it stated that I was to download 3 files.

I downloaded SS20E-20040319.exe and

md5sum.exe.........but...I could not find the small file named SS20E 20040319.md5 on any of the links..

Any idea where it is ???? unsure.gif

Have not loaded ANY stuff from the CD that came with the MD player.

have tried out the FM radio...awesome sound quality rolleyes.gif

From my posting above.......I could not find the small file named SS20E 20040319.md5 on any of the links..:sad::sad:

Could some one give me a hint as to how I can install SS2 without that file...like...is it included with one of the other two files I downloaded from the sites???

Help Please

I don't want to screw this up...

for the individual from Ireland...thanks for your input

When I click [...] on SS20E2040319.md5 all I see in my IE 6 is a bunch of numbers and letters.

The .md5 file contains the checksum (numbers and letters) of the SonicStage installer application (SS20E_20040319.exe). It is used to check that the file you downloaded is an exact copy of the original and did not get damaged on the way to your computer.

Basically you put the files in a folder, open a command promt there and use md5sum.exe to generate a checksum that you compare to the one in the mysterious numbers-and-letters file.

For example:

md5sum.exe ss20e_20040319.exe

If you need more information, search for MD5 cheksums on Google.

OK...my first burn...a little one

I used the SIMPLE BURNER and only tried to burn one track onto a minidisk....and it worked.......but I was wondering why I could not get any CD INFO when I clicked on the CD INFO button in the SIMPLE BURNER program. I registered with CDDB2 in my SonicS version 2 and it always gives me the info.

All I get when I hit the CD INFO button on the SIMPLE BURNER is the CDDB2 logo doing its thing but no info comes back to the computer...all the track titles of the inserted CD are not visible, just a BLACK SCREEN, although the check boxes are still there.

Any ideas???
