That is completely false. You cannot digitally upload via usb on the unit, you could only do it digitally to a computer if you had a deck/etc with digital out and a soundcard with digital in, and that would be 1x.

Welcome to the forums, btw.

Ok, so how does it work, uploading from a computer to a netmd minidisc. I have looked for information on this, but have been unable to find it. From what I have understood, you connect the minidisc to a computer by a usb capable, so there is some sort of digital upload.

Thanks for your answer, I am thinking about buying a minidisc player, and would like to find out more information.

Money isn't that important, although i am not really after that much. I have no need for radio, and i don't really want to record from any source other than the computer, so I was only considering the basic N410 model. I am trying to find another reason to pick up a more expensive model, but havent really found one yet. I guess a remote would be ok, but it is not really that important. Is there any other reason for getting a better model??

If you can afford a better one, then build quality and overall reliability are factors to consider. Corners are definitely cut with the lower models, and I've seen a few complaints about peoples' 410's failing after a few weeks.

Also, the better models tend to have better sound options and equaliser settings...

I own a 610 and I love it! It did come with the radio (reception is eh!) I have not figured a way to do 1x transfers from the computer. I usually just hook it up to my computer and let the unit do the ATRAC conversion. The SonicStage software isn't the greatest but it works. You can't really change many of the settings (ie volume level). IF you have a sound card with audio out, you can do 1x that way as well.

Hope this helps alittle.
