Christopher
You have to employ what you're currently employing; it's the limits of your unit. To achieve faster download times, you would either need a NetMD or a Hi-MD unit. Welcome, btw.
slesh10bb22
what if he buys a usb cable that will go to the computer into the optical line like the new md players with the new software, will it work?
Bananatree
The "new" software won't work with the R70. AFAIK the R70 just uses the USB cable with a DAC to make audio recordings from computers into a LINE In source. This process will always be real-time and cannot be sped up. Unless you REALLY need the speed, simply plug in the PC-Link as usual, and record the MP3. However, play the MP3 in FAST FORWARD!!! Now your MP3's will not only record faster, but they will also play back faster! What a time saver! [/just kidding] To summarize, you can't make your r70 record faster. Christopher
No, and this has been answered in your thread, slesh. Try not to double post, please. Thanks.
slesh10bb22
im sry bout that, but my old md player says "Sampling Rate Converter 24bit ATRAC" on its cover, do u know wat that means?
skyther
Yeah it means it'll convert 48kHz sample rates from whatever optical source you're recording from, which is pretty meaningless since CDs are already at 44.1kHz so no sample rate conversion is needed. 24-bit ATRAC is just the bit width that's employed in the ATRAC DSP. All modern units are 24-bit, only the first generation Sony ATRAC DSPs were 20-bit.
slesh10bb22
does that change anything with using a usb cable or is it still not possible with my unit, Sharp MD-MT15
Christopher
Still not possible, but you could use a Xitel DG2 if you must employ USB - that device only does 1:1 transfers, though.
slesh10bb22
wat is 1:1 transfers? and how much is the Xitel DG2? could u maybe explain wat it is because the cord i purchased is P-500 USB Digital Audio Converter, r they similar in the sense that this one will work the way u say it will? crazeybt1
 ur a funny fellow .. i got a MZR70 n i still record the snail way but when i'm going to sleep  uhh 1:1 transfer is like real time the Xitel converter converts the signal from the usb to optical then u plug ur optical cable to it BAM u got digital audio signal.. plug to ur optical in in ur unit n slide the record button n WAM ur recording in real time  just digitally way kwel.. as for the p500 i don't really know what that is sorry but the DG2 just over rides the signal to ur sound card n channel it through the usb to the converter n out to optical that's all it does really...the cool thing about it is that u can have ur list of tracks in say windows media player or music match n cuz ur recording digitally track marks will b inserted automatically here's a lil review on it http://tech-report.com/reviews/2001q4/xite...g2/index.x?pg=1 uhh it costs bout $50 back in the day i'm sure u can get it for way less now
slesh10bb22
if i record mini discs using the usb cable onto a mini disc on a net md with the new technology can i take the disc and stick it into my sharp md-mt15
crazeybt1
in terms of just using the NET MD it will work but using the MDLP compression when recording the dics i'm sorry but it won't work cuz that Sharp unit doesn't support MDLP pay close attention to MDLP (minidisc long play) where u got lp2 n lp4 moods of compressing.. the audio is compressed so allow more music to fit on a disc ok.. but if u record in Sterio which even using the NET MD function will b close to real time recording cuz it only record at some 1.8X ..
