Syrius
As durable as the MD's are, I have had some of them getting dusty, or messy with tiny particles that manage to slip in from the back, where the spindle grasps the disc itself to make it spin. (Come on, it's not hermetically sealed) I once had to crack open the shell and wash the disc with mild soapy water, and a very fine sponge. And super-glue back the shell. It worked, but I'm sure there must be another solution. Thanks. Da Dogg.
KJ_Palmer
I keep all my discs in their covers and also in a plastic storage box when not in use. As you say, the disks aren't air-tight, but hopefully two or three layers will keep the dust-monsters out. Anyway, my oldest ones from 5 years back still play fine... I also think it's best to keep master copies of favouite material on another media such as CD-R's.
robbith
I've never really had to clean any of mine before, but where the little metal 'flap' thing is that exposes the disk when it's inserted into the unit, there's like a trigger that releases it when it's pushed. Just push it down with a pin and slide it open, then you can spin the disk around from the center and hold a cloth or something on the surface... If that makes sense? Hope it helped anyway!
