NeoAtreides
I use minidisc mostly for audiobooks because I don't need excellent sound quality and can fit a large amount of data on a single disc. One recurring problem of course is the limitation on the number of tracks and the amount of space available for titling tracks. I'm interested in Hi-MD and am wondering if these hardware restricitions are going to be eased in some way. Hi-MD would allow me to record and entire unabridged audio book to one disc, but it will be completely useless if I can't title each track (to keep my place for CD in the car) or are limited in the number of tracks I can put on a disc. mAjEsTiC
i would hope that u would be able to title each track...i could do that with my older units based on normal standard MD's...and what did you mean by limited in the number of tracks you can put on a disc? like the number of times you can transfer over to an MD on one particular song or the number of songs u can fit on the disc? if the former then it has been more or less become obselete since you can get around that using various methods, if u mean the latter then you're only limited to the size of the actual MD but if u meant that u have short tracks then i think there is a certain number of tracks that u can put onto an MD before the track limit hits the max and you can't get any more...i think this is close to around ~250-300 tracks on normal MD and not too sure bout Hi-MD since i hav'n bought one as yet... Mat
I think the track limit on MD was 256. There ARE limits like this on HI-MD but i heard they are quit high. I would still advise to check this though.
Christopher
Please do NOT post in the Minidisco forum next time. Moving to correct forum..
jadeclaw
Ok, collected from the NH700 manual (available onsite): A Hi-MD disc allows for 55 kByte for title, track and group names. 200 Characters per title. 2047 tracks are possible. That should do it.
