Richard601
I am looking at purchasing a Sony HI-MD (MZNH900) I have spoken to Sony and they say that the format the HI-MD saves its files to is ATRAC3. Is it possible to transfer from ATRAC3 to a format that CD players can read. I am looking at creating self-help material for members of a lcoal MIND Organisation to help them in their recovery and before I purchase the Mini-disk, want to be sure that once the recording is on the PC we can edit and produce copies for our members to use in their own CD players. Thanks Richard
Fray Adjacent
Short answer: no. This could be a 'not yet', as sony MAY make a newer version of SonicStage support taking recordings from your HiMD unit to CD. They may not, knowing Sony. The workaround is to plug your HiMD unit into your Audio In on your sound card and record the audio in realtime.
Mat
For your knowledge: HI-MD records in ATRAC+/PCM The latter afaik cannot even be uploaded to the PC. However, you can use the units to record in ATRAC3/ATRAC(baked LP2) aka "NetMD" mode...which....cannot even be uploaded either.
The_Stamp
a bit more clarity on MAT's response.. you CAN upload ANYTHING (not sure about PCM) that was recorded in HI-MD mode (which inclued LP2/LP4 recorded in hi-md mode). there just isn't a way to export it from ss2 (currently). Mat
You can record LP2/LP4 on a HI-MD formatted MD? I had the impression that you could only use them in NetMD compatibility mode...
skyther
No you can't. Only PCM, Hi-SP, Hi-LP for Hi-MD formatted discs.
