Living in the same city as you, I asked 2 Sony Store rep's (called different locations). They seem clueless about it. One said he thinks the NH1 is made from Japan and the rest he doesn't know, while the other said "it depends which shipment wave you purchase from"... :whatever: You decide which of the two to believe (or call up a few yourself heh).

Yeah me too... but I don't really like the fact that the AA pack isn't there. Guess Sony is trying to sell out more of their Lithium-Ion sticks :rasp:

Where are you getting your's? Perhaps I can go check it out

I'm planning on getting mine from MiniDisc Canada, I've calculated the final cost, it would come out to be $553 CDN after shipping and 7% tax, I've decided to buy from there because they have good customer reviews and they ship to Canada and that they guarentee that the product will arrive within 1 week. Although other sites may also ship to Canada but I know the shipping cost would be very expensive and might be taxed when going through customs and it would take longer to get here. Where are you planning to order from?

I don't know yet... still have a few more days to decide before NH1 arrives huh.gif. What's that Minidisc Canada place like?

I dont think they have an actually store, they have a *online store* though. Check it out here http://www.minidisc-canada.com/

You can see NH1 in the main page, even though the starting price isnt much cheaper than the other stores(perhaps even a bit more expensive), but it all comes down to shipping cost+tax. MiniDisc Canada only charges little for them. This is going to be the first time that I'm ordering from them, so these info is told by the MiniDisc Canada themselves.

It might not be the cheapest, but it's sure a lot more cheaper than Sony Store (~$650 :wacky:). Perhaps I'll get my Hi-MD from this site.

I ordered an MZ-NH700 from them [i'm on a budget] and have been told it would be shipped to me when they receive their first shipment.

I know others who have purchased from Minidisc Canada before and all of them have given good marks on their customer service and shipping turnaround time.

In order to answer my question from before *Are The Hi-MD Units Being Released In North America Going To Be Made In Japan?* I've emailed Sony.ca, Sony.com, and MiniDisc Canada(Where I Intended to buy my NH1 from once it is released) The results i get are as follows and I'm pretty disappointed.

From Sony.com: (American Site)

Thank you for contacting Sony Style with your inquiry regarding Sony Sony Hi-MD

walkmans.

The Mi-MD walkmans showcased at Sonystyle.com are manufactured in the US.

The MZ-NH1 has a full magnesium body and an ultra compact design. It comes with

a convenient USB cradle for easy PC connection and charging. The player has long

battery life and you can pack up to 45 hours of music onto one Hi-MD MiniDisc.

It's also compatible with standard MiniDisc media, so you can build on your

collection without worries. Plus, you can record your MP3s or CDs at up to 100x

speed, making music transfers really fast.

From Sony.Ca:

Thank you for contacting SONY Online Support.

Sony in each country is responsible for the sales and support of their own

units. Products for Sony of Canada Ltd. are designed to use 120V/60Hz.

MiniDisc Canada:

all MD's are made in Malaysia.  the units we have are for sale in Canada
