PaulV
hi guys, been looking a tthe forum for ages but never posted, but felt now was the correct time to post. i am now the owner of the nh-600! i am after a 900 unit, but i saw the 600 unit and thought i would take a look and see what it`s like. if i do not like it i return it and get a refund and get a 900. ( dixons offer a 21 day return policy, so it might be an idea to jsut get a 600 till the 900 comes out ) solutions: first off, i have not read this any where but it drove me insane. i have a pda attatched to the computer in a cradle, and attatched the mini disc so a seperate usb port. oringally i could write files to the minidisc, but sonic stage refused to write tracks to any minidiscs. after much fumbeling around i managed to work out that actisync software tries to identfy the minidisc as a PDA and sonic stage does not like this and will not allow you to do any thing with the minidisc. the solution is to stop actisync identifying that particular USB port as a device, and voila! sonic stage is happy again. Review : when i saw the unit i was quite suprised, i thought it was going to be a brick, but the unit is not actually that bad. sure it`s ploastic, but the last minidisc i owned was the 707 and this did not look ad bad as i expected. the rotary dails will scrapt the finger prints off your fingers tho! those are some sharp notches! once i got the unit running, i was happy with the sound quality, it does sound tinny ( hopeing to get some better phones soon ). transfereing tracks with sonic stage was a doddle, abet slow. d`ont be thinking your mate is coming round so you`ll throw a few tunes on the disc to lsiten too. better tell him to park the car and have a cuppa ( hes driving so no beer folks! ) while the minidisc does it`s thing. the menu is very confusing at first, but after 5-10 mins of messing you can understand what you have to do, tho it does seem to be you working for menu system rarther than the menu system working for you. there are a few things still to have a play withm but over all, i am happy with the unit and i like HI-MD. next up, the mp3 --> atrac quality test! questions: 1) any where int he uk do hi-md blanks? 2) if i format the disc in MD mode, and record some SP tracks via the optical in, does it record in true SP or psuedo SP ( LP2 padded out to LP ) 3) the unit does not come with a remote, but there is a slit next to the phone output, does this eman i can buy a remote and plug it in? which remotes work with this unit and where can i get them ( UK ) 4) i am going to get the creative mp3+ as this has optical ins and outs ( i have an old MD deck with the same conenctions ) but was wondering if there is a program that plays the cds through the optical outs with the track mark information on them? like if i was to do this from a cd player it would copy the track marks, but when ever i record from PC with my current optical output ( nforce 2 soundstrorm ) it does not copy any track marks. thanks for reading this post! hope it helps some epoiple and the questions can get answered
Christopher
Welcome! 1) any where int he uk do hi-md blanks?Few and far between..for now. 2) if i format the disc in MD mode, and record some SP tracks via the optical in, does it record in true SP or psuedo SP ( LP2 padded out to LP )If it's recorded optically, then it's not pseudo anything. Pseduo-SP only applies to NetMD transfers. 3) the unit does not come with a remote, but there is a slit next to the phone output, does this eman i can buy a remote and plug it in? which remotes work with this unit and where can i get them ( UK )What's your maximum budget? ---------- Not sure about question #4, hopefully someone can help you. bhangraman
Welcome, [Hi-MD blanks] Not yet. Dixons would be the first place to look. [sP] Yes, it's recorded in true SP just like a normal MD. [Remote] I'd suggest you get them from Audiocubes. Sony UK spares are not overtly helpful and also charge an arm and a leg for such spares. [Creative CD recording] There is a program called Creative MD Recorder or something like that, which was shipped with the Platinum series of soundcards, It inserted a break in the sound for every track to trigger the Sync recording of an MD recorder. Unfortunately I don't know where you can get it.
