PeterWilson
I see that the new Hi-MD format supports ATRAC3plus 64K, ATRAC3 132 and ATRAC3 105. In terms of quality, how do these three rank?
jadeclaw
132k == Well above High-quality FM-Radio. 105k == Good FM-Radio. 64k == Cheap FM-Radio, the 20$ variant... Generally, the higher the datarate, the better the quality is. Atrac3 or 3plus isn't that important, the datarate is the decisive factor. PDOG58
I have a lot of non-music CDs (basically comedy CDs). I ripped them all at ATRAC3plus 64K and you really cant tell the differance. For pure or most voice stuff, 64K is plenty good. Save your HD space for music. No need to encode higher than 64K.
