While this doesnt exactly go in this section i figured that some of you have had your recorder not write the toc to the disc after recording. Ive got 3 discs that I need a toc clone to. I dont have the right gear (JE510) to do it myself otherwise I would.

Any thoughts as to why my portable isnt writing the toc correctly? Ive had it for about 3 years now and have recorded about 150 show so maybe its just giving out?? I sure hope not..I love my Sharp MT90 and that model isnt made any more!

If anyone could be so kind as to help me out id be mighty greatful! Just let me know what you charge for this service.

Reading this old post above...*Is* this possible that you could put another TOC on a recorded disc and save it? (i'm not completely understanding this) I have had a couple failures on recordings and just erased one after reading somewhere that it was a lost cause. Does this mean my data/recording is still there, and that someone can re-write the TOC for me and fix the recording?

Secondly, I've found this old FAQ also to prevent the TOC not writing issue, and would like to know how to utilize it best...I'm guessing recording the whole disc with a stereo plug to miniplug that is not connected to another source would do the trick? If so, will this really prevent my Disc from appearing blank should the writing of the table of contents fail on the second recording, even if recording over the "blank" disc from the beginnning? Sorry, I'm just not understanding this whole TOC thing and it happens so rarely to me, but the disappointment the first time was tear inducing. I'd love to know if there were a way to recover the recording. Forgive my ignorance...haven't been able to find much in the archives.

Power Failure-proof Recording

I format my MiniDiscs for live recording ahead of time by recording null input audio on the entire length of the disc in however many channels I'll be using. This gives me a TOC of one 74 minute song when I begin recording my gig. If the power cuts out during the show or I forget to eject, the previously written TOC lets me play back everything that was recorded.

Most portables handle battery exhaustion during recording gracefully by stopping and writing out the TOC while sufficient power remains to do so. However, if the battery is removed or for some other reason power is cut suddenly, the TOC data in memory will be lost.
