PDOG58
I have reinstalled this sucker many times, following the instructions given in this forum, and it still has not worked. So what do I do?I just submited a question to Sony Connect about the problem. This is what i sent.... Ok, here is the deal. I had 2.0 but I wanted to upgrade to 2.1. It looks like the installer is installing everything EXCEPT "OpenMG Secure Module 4.0". After the installer finishes, it reboots my computer. I try to start SS2.1 and it says OpenMG is not installed. So, I run the installer again and it just skips over the OpenMG installation. That seems to be the crux of the problem. How do I fix this? Christopher
Try this: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details...&displaylang=en [assuming you're using WinXP] p.s. So when you did uninstall before, you did the registry edits, uninstalled all openmg components, all folders, etc?

Infrablade
What if none of this works still, I've done this over and over again, and it still won't work. I was thinking I'd upgrade to SonicStage from OpenMG 2.2, but once it uninstalled OMG and installed itself, and after restarting, it would not start. I've pulled every single thing that looked like it was Sony, yanked every freakin Sony refferrence from my registry and still it gives that F'ed up error. I even reinstalled every update and installed Service Pack 1 over itself. I reinstalled DAO, Jet 4.0 sp8(WindowsXP-KB829558-x86-ENU), MDAC 2.5-2.8, odbc_net, even reinstalled Windows Media 9, and DX9c. I'm out of thoughts with this retarded program, and IT won't let me put OMG back on here, I tried, after the tenth uninstall, to up OMG back and it wouldn't even show up aside from a momentary Splash screen. Please you Gurus have another thought to fix this piece of crap software Blade...
Christopher
Welcome, infrablade. So you uninstalled everything via the NetMD faq, and installed Sonicstage 2 only from connect.com? Also, do you have any codec packs installed?
PDOG58
What if none of this works still, I've done this over and over again, and it still won't work. The same thing happened to me. I finally got fed up and called Sony's customer support. THey told me that they are getting a LOT of calls on that EXACT same problem and as of right now, they are unsure how to fix it. THey told me that they THINK it is a problem with the version you have to download. The woman I talked to told me that there will be a CD version available in a few weeks and that mght solve the problem.
Infrablade
I did exactly as the FAQ directed many times over just hoping I made a mistake. I pulled it from Connect.com, at first it was from Sony, when I originally installed it. Linked from their support page. No Codec packs that I am aware of, I even went into the device mgr(in safe mode) and removed the Audio Codecs that said Sony ATRAC3, they did do this weird the in returning by themselves, but I figured it was a system fluke and that they were being truly removed. All that remain there are: IMA ADPCM Audio Codec Microsoft ADPCM Audio Codec Microsoft CCITT G.711 Audio Codec Microsoft GSM 6.10 Audio Codec DSP Group TrueSpeech Audio Codec msg 723.acm Windows Media Audio Spiro Lab Telecom Audio Codec Fraunhofer IIS MPEG Layer-3 Codec Indeo Audio Software Microsoft PCM Converter I read that certain video codecs are bothering the program, but I never found out which ones those are suppose to be. Christopher
I didn't mean removing Sony ATRAC codecs, I meant other non-Sony ATRAC codecs. You may want to try deleting the ones that aren't necessary for your system.
