jadeclaw
Had visited our local Saturn outlet here in Gemany and the salesguy questioned Sony about the availability of Hi-MD blanks and Sony answered them, that Hi-MD blanks are currently on sale in China and the US only because of limited supply. Sony hopes to serve Europe when the christmas sales begin. And that means round mid November to December. It seems, that any further inquiries here on the forum are obsolete until then. Methinks, I have to order at Audiocubes...
Christopher
Hm, I don't know if I feel comfortable spending so much per disk - are you? [if so, let me generate an audiocubes link fer ya]. I'm sorta glad I'm sitting out for a little while until things mature with Hi-MD - at least to the point of common availability.
jadeclaw
Actually, I don't feel like spending that much on a disc, in addition, I have a load of standard discs to fill first and these will last well into the next year before I need to buy additional discs. doclloyd
I am in the same boat as jadeclaw... the fact that a standard 80min MD (when formatted to Hi-MD) can fit 2hr 20min of Hi-SP, that's great! Right now, I use LP2 for most all of my needs. Now, I get the same capacity, but with higher quality.

Are you saying Audiocubes is only etailer that is available to you, if you want some Hi-MD discs now? I notice that you are in Chicago area. If you are currently reside in U.S., there are few US Etailers that has those discs advertise on their website. However, Jadeclaw's case is different. Audiocubes is only option for him, if he wants some of those discs now, since it's the only US etailer that will ship internationally. doclloyd
I'm ok with waiting until they are more readily available, even here in the States. I've read that Sony charges a lot for shipping from sonystyle.com. Minidisco isn't carrying discs yet, nor are any local electronics stores yet. I have a good amount of regular MD's I can convert to Hi-MD format to tide me over for a while.
birdy
I've ordered some discs from Audiocubes two days ago. And they are on they're way.... I live in Norway and when the discs will come to the stores here, I will have to pay about the same amount (about $1 less!) for them as when I'm getting them from Japan through Audiocubes. Everything is veeeery expensive in Norway. So if there are any norwegians out there, order from Audiocubes, don't wait until December.
