Yes and No. A Hi-MD recorder can play discs recorded on the NF810.

The NF810 can play discs recorded on a Hi-MD unit in NetMD mode. The Hi-MD unit must show 'MD' + 'SP' or 'LP2' or 'LP4' in its display.

And of course, use standard discs only.

Standard discs recorded in Hi-MD mode or the new 1GByte discs won't play in the NF810.

Can i store data files such as .zip or .doc file on MiniDisc? If so, what encoder do i need to use?

Yeah, you can store data files on Hi-MD units. It functions just like a hot-swappable USB hard drive.

Except, it really sucks for that. Writing magneto-optical discs is slow. It would be better for you, and much cheaper, to just use CD-R. :rasp:
