b.e.wilson
I just got an '800, and use it to play back audio books. It's nice, when playing back an hour-long file, to have the playback pick-up with the exact point of a file when I turn it on after shutting the player down. It would be very nice if this worked even after swaping disc out and back in. Default behavior is to reset the disc, so it plays from the start of the first track. Is there a setting to change this behavior. The manual is a little difficult to figure out. Seem's to me that 'bookmark' is the function that might do this, but the manual describes something rather different for that function. mr.java
If listening to audio books than it makes sense to use the bookmark feature. The bookmark feature is like a save point it will save where you are at on the minidisc without making a track mark on the disc itself. And the cool thing about the bookmark feature is that you can have more than one. So if you are like me and read or listen to more than one book at a time you can have a seperate bookmark for each one you are listening to. Christopher
Welcome, b.e.! I am actually surprised at this discovery. Most standard MD units have a memory in which it can playback audio from a disc when the unit last stopped. Unfortunately, I still have yet to have an opportunity to purchase a Hi-MD unit. Is there anyone else who can help this gentlemen, or is bookmarking the only option? This may be a limitation in the NHF800.. btw, your photography is beautiful. I recommend y'all check out his website.
mutant1345
well the player does leave off where you last stopped it even after it was shut off, as for the changing of discs and still having it stay there i would say you need to fiddle with the disc memory function bookmarking is just to make a seperate playlist of songs to play in a certain order(the order you bookmarked them in) so you cn listen to a song from one grupe and then it will automaticly skip to the next location of the song you bookmarked secondly. this function does notsave your place on the dusc
b.e.wilson
I was playing with the bookmark function, and you're right, it's just a list of selected tracks, which can them be played in the same order they are on the disc. Guess I'll need to plan my listening a bit more than I anticipated. I have a Riovolt mp3-cd player that's perfect for audiobook listening, it's just a lot bigger and heavier than a MD player.
