If we could just get some of that universal, or almost universal, health care they keep talking about, you could go to the dentist and have your MD deck, too! In fact, you could listen to your latest, favorite tunes you just recorded on your deck as your dentist drills and grinds!

Looking for an MZ-RH1. Now that I'm getting into this minidisc thing in a more serious way, I'm looking to expand my collection. Or to quell a newly acquired minidisc HiMD addiction...... Please PM me.

Clear and easy communication, rapid delivery, everything works, looks just as described. Good, fair dealings with Syrius. I wanted another NH900 since right before Thanksgiving when my old one went kaput. Thank you.

That is the universe saying something to you. Not sure what. Try RICE: Rest, Ice, 30 min. on, 30 min. off, etc., Compression, Elevation. Feel better

Sorry for the delay in response. Work beckoned. Very likely interested, depending on the condition, history, etc. Thank you.

Well, should your car radio be a Sony? Is that better for MD?

I see I have some technology education ahead of me in 2008..... Thanks for your suggestions!

Well, thanks, fellows. Your comments really clarified it. Uploading would be for the purpose of burning a CD, which then I could play in the car and "study" while driving to work, but maybe another possibility is to play the actual recorder unit in the car on portable speakers. ? RC

Thanks so much to all of you. Your responses helped a lot. I have a sort of broken 900, which I had used for both lectures and music (to record jam sessions, practice, etc.) The pitch control playback was nice for the latter. Anyway, I say "sort of broken", because I have been able to revive it by using the remote and the plug in adaptor. So I bought an RH1 for music recording, and am seeking a separate one for voice. What about (dare I say) iriver ifp 700 or 800 series ? Another student had one last semester and it worked well.....

Looking for a unit to record and play class lectures, even if I sit in the back row of a large lecture hall. Preferably with good battery power, using AAs, in addition to rechargeable, or just AAs. Sort of a workhorse for voice recording. Any recommendations for approriate model nos. out there? Thanks. xswzaq

As a relative newcomer to the forum, can someone explain to me the differences between the NH1 and RH1 or RH910, to be used to record lectures in class and to record practice and jam sessions? Most appreciative. I went to the charts, but except for them using different batteries and remotes, what else ? Thanks, RC

G- Here's a new book: The 2007-2012 Outlook for MiniDisc Players in Greater China (Paperback), by Philip M. Parker. Maybe a new demand will be generated that will force Sony or whoever to start up the minidisc production again. R

What are its problems, if any? I'd like to buy it. Does it have a case? How does it differ from the NH900? Rhonda

I like the radio idea, if it really works. And can you record from the radio? xswzaq

will check it out, but I thought the NH 900 could record stuff (audio) from the web, no? (of course, on the up and up) x

I read the postings in this topic -- you are some wwwiiilllddd and ccrraazzzyyy guys! Especially the heartfelt and (very obviously) sincere affection and fondness you feel for your little minidisc players, and the quality. Well, I need a Hi MD for a certain stocking (Christmas stocking?). My NH-900 ceased (all over) a few weeks ago. I've agonized enough. Could this blue NH3D be a new baby sister to my 2 year old pup named Bluegrass? What I'm looking for: Everything the NH900 had and more, such as ease of reading and operating the dials; I like the extra battery pack. If anyone has any suggestions about a good model, thanks. Keep up the good relationships with the MDs! xswzaq

Thanks for that clarification. I took apart the recharger, and it appeared "normal" to this pair of eyes. Of course, it was a debut job. If something is "fried", does it look "fried" in these electronic gadgets? I'm thinking about taking the MD apart next. RC

I have a Sony md walkman MZ-NH900, well, until last night. While trying to record two days ago from the internet in the laptop, something I've done before with no problem, the unit got warm, and then completele stopped working. There was no smoke, nothing obvious electrical happened in the house, such as lights dimming. The unit won't play, record, nothing on the LCD or on the remote. It won't charge, except 30 seconds in the last 36 hours, while I was gently moving and pushing on the ac connection and the unit't controls, the LCD read "charging" for 15 seconds. I have been unable to repeat that and have tried hundreds of times. It won't work without the battery from ac. The unit gets a little warm when the ac is plugged in. I've tried a different disc, cleaned the contacts. Haven't bought a new battery yet, but will if there's a chance that the unit isn't ruined. I have reviewed the manual online and tried the suggestions in the troubleshooting section. Also, is the unit supposed to work on ac, without the rechargeable battery inside it? Any help is really appreciated.
