Cheers Bueller I don't half miss my local Preston store though. Especially reading on here about the release of new gadgets! Can't say I'm over-enthusiastic about popping into Currys and asking for a play on the NW-A808.

Thanks for the warning. I'll just contact D&G if I have any problems. I noticed the Trafford Centre store was still open and it all makes sense now the guys on here have filled me in about franchises and stuff

Hi Pete - I can't believe you're on here - I'm so glad I said nice things about you guys in my post! Thanks for the D&G reassurance and the details of your whereabouts. Glad you're still in a job. I think I remember the Bolton store - is it on that pedestrianised bit, across from the Nationwide?

Oh, I didn't know that. I assumed "Sony Centre", meant I could take my Sony product there. Oh well, fingers crossed it doesn't break. And if it does, it'll have to go away by courier courtesy of D&G. Thanks for the info

Took your advice Jonny - all seems fine. D&G said if I need a repair, they will collect and return my A3000 by courier. So all that worrying for nothing! Went to the Trafford Centre last night and the Sony shop in there is still open so I have that option too. All is well Thanks for the advice everyone.

Hi guys - thanks for your replies I've dug out my paperwork and it calls it a Plumbs Repair Protection Plan, offered in association with Domestic and General. So fingers crossed D&G will sort me out if I have any problems. It's good to hear that it doesn't mean the end of Sony shops. There was something in our local paper last night saying that our two local ones had already shut and a third one was still trading until they'd sold all their stock. So I thought it was a countrywide thing.

Discovered my local Sony shop (Preston, Lancs.) was shut down today, with a notice on the window saying that the parent company (Plumbs) had gone into administration. I'm gutted to hear that as the guys in there have given me great advice and support over the years. I bought my A3000 just over a year ago and took out an extra 3 years warranty which I am paying by monthly direct debit. Is this warranty now likely to be worthless? Any info would be gratefully appreciated. Thanks, Debbie

Delete the track from the A1200 and reimport it?

Will Transfer to NW-A300 still be possible with new PC?
Debbie replied to Mr. Crowley's topic in Software
I've never tried it myself but maybe if you use the library backup facility in SS and save it onto CD or DVD, you could restore it using these discs on your new PC. That's all theory, not speaking from experience so I could be wrong. Hopefully, someone else could confirm/deny this. -
Deleting tracks from NW-A3000 and SonicStage in one operation
Debbie replied to martybartfast's question in Audio
They may have meant that trashing a song in SonicStage doesn't remove it from the player. I've found this a real pain since I ditched Connect. In Connect, deleting a track from my library would also delete it from my A3000. And editing the track info in my library would change the info on my A3000 too. SonicStage doesn't seem to do either of these things and I wish it would. Am I missing something? -
I too, was reluctant to make the switch as I found Connect generally OK. But I plucked up courage a few weeks ago, upgraded to firmware v3.00 and SSCP4.0. Immediately I was alarmed by how slow my A3000 was when searching by initial letters. Horrendously so. I found a tip on here which advised to connect the A3000 without opening SS, then defrag it. Instant success and speeds back to normal. I have a few issues with SS, but then Connect had it's own problems. My first reaction was to switch back to Connect for the following reasons :- 1. Editing a track in the library of SS does not edit the track on the player. I have to connect the player and edit it on there too. 2. Deleting a track in the library of SS does not delete it off the player. (Others may see this as a good point.) 3. When the player is connected, the tracks can't be listed as one complete list. They are displayed by Artist Name or Group. I found something on here to enable them to be displayed by album but that's not as simple as it sounds if you have compilations with various artists. It's much harder to find a track on the player when it's displayed through SS. However, I vowed to try it out for a week and have stuck with SS ever since. I like the way you can display tracks according to the date transferred. My main reason for sticking is that you can edit multiple tracks at once, whereas Connect wouldn't let you highlight and edit a group of tracks. There still seems to be the odd bug e.g. I have a track which keeps transferring every time I connect my player (maybe I should turn auto-update off?) so I had the same track 3 times when I looked at the album. I also noticed that after a few weeks of use, my player had fewer tracks than SS. Eleven tracks had gone from the A3000 and I swear I haven't deleted them knowingly. I notice SSCP v4.2 is now out. I think I'll upgrade to that and see if that solves any of my issues. But even if it doesn't, I'm sticking with SS. At least until Connect gets upgraded!

I've only just found this forum - what an amazing discovery! Having been reasonably happy with Connect and A3000 firmware v1, I finally plucked up the courage to switch to SonicStage CP and firmware v3. I was gutted to find out how much slower my A3000 was. Just followed the instructions above about defragging and bingo - normal service is resumed. Many, many, many thanks from a very grateful newbie
