  3. Hi Azureal thank you for your reply ,your wife must have been very pleased with the gift you gave to her ,it is wonderful that for every minidisc player there is a story, some sad ,and some happy ,so pleased you thought the md was good ,and will let folk know how i go on with it ,i have just had a email from David the minidisc repairman, who was very helpful about taking care of the md befor switching it on ,as it may not have been used for a while, he said to make sure the battery terminals are perfectly clean, and toalso be careful about charging the unit with the psu at first , thanks again best wishes Brian
  4. wow i have recorded two more minidiscs by running all my mp3 collection in to sound forge using a optical cable to my minidisc player and the results are breath taking, and i thought it was mz-n505 not doing the job ,it must not like rubbish being fed in to it ,really really pleased, thanks again to everyone, best wishes Brian
  5. Hi after looking on Ebay for a while,i saw a mz-n707 for sale ,i had read that they were quite good ,and the guy selling it told me he had bought it years ago as a present for a friend and never sent it,and that it had lived in the original box with all the original bits and bobs that came with it for years ,but was time to sell it ,so i rushed in and bought it today lol does any one know how old it is and how good they are ,i know on amazon years ago people were raving about it just wondering if anyone still using one ,and if there is any thing i should do before i switch it on because it may not have been used for a long while, best wishes Brian lol sorry just noticed theres enough imformation to write a book on this forum, mostly about hacking lol
  6. Well now i am confused, lol i nearly gave up, i had tryed optical and usb recording, with still the same results, missed bits lol, so i took another look at what i was asking the md zn-n505 to record ,it turned out it was acepting some songs and not otheres in yet they were all mp3,so i took 20 of the same songs including the ones that gave me missing bits and put them throu sony sound forge ,i told it i wanted atrac 3 at 352 kbps,44,100 hz,stereo and to my amazement 20 songs were recorded into the md zn-n505 and when i played them back they were all perfect, well not just perfect but they sounded better than my fostex mt8 multitracker used to sound, oh am i pleased, i thank you all for your input, even now i dont understand why it now works lol best wishes Brian lol i hope it keeps working
  7. Hi thankyou to everyone for there help, i have looked at everything you kind folk have said, and it would appear that the orginal downloads were fine, the cpu didnt seem to strugle, and i made sure i was doing nothing to interupt the transfer, but it does seem to take a while to do, my cpu is E6850 DUO a conro 3.00GHz which is pretty quick i have 4 gig memory , my motherboard is the Gigabyte EP45-UD3LR anyways to carry on i recorded the same songs again on a different minidisc and it did the same again, missing bits lol so i then recorded to different songs, and low and behold the first two songs only again had missing bits lol, it appears that which ever two songs i record first the result is always the same, lol missin bits ,i think the mz-n505 must be faulty ,or if any of you kind folk have a idea they would be most welcome, best wishes Brian
  8. What a good idea, what to call it, well mine would be A MDPP mini disc player phone any more offers lol
  9. Hi Arr nine hundread checked what the cpu was doing and that gave out a very low reading so i think that is ok, i have been using a usb cable from my computer to the minidisc player using sonicstage, and i was getting at least 5 songs out of twenty missing bits,so now i have connected a optical cable and have the tunes coming from windows media player i have a new disc and recorded 20 songs ,the first two songs have bits missing the third seems fine, and the rest i am going to listen to latter,i think it may be my mz-n505, thanks for your help, best wishes Brian
  10. Hi this might sound stupid but how come Sony never made a minidisc player with a phone ,now that would be neat ,or did they, i hope so because you can put my name down for one ,best wishes Brian
  11. Hi i have managed to get sonicstage working using vista 32bit and most songs i record have done so very well, and sound real good, but others not so good and there are bits of the song missing, altho the orginal which i recorded from was ok ,i was wondering should i be turning virus checkers and any thing else that might interfeer with the recording off, because it seems like some thing may be kicking in at the same time i was recording, best wishes Brian ps i used the mz-n505 to record on too, and the songs i used i downloaded , my computer is pretty quick and coped very well with sonar recording studio
  12. lol are you joking, back to xp, i have got vista 32 bit working with sonicstage, and you could say its working lol but not brilliantly ,but its getting there ,and i still have windows 7 as the other boot up ,not that it will work with that, but back to xp as good as it was ,maybe not best wishes Brian

  16. Hi Avrin, did someone mention The Beatles ,brilliant and thats a good idea i always thought the Beatles sounded better in mono, and i am quite sure George Martin did when he recorded them ,so i must have ago,i still think the older 60,s recordings were loads better ,infact when i listen to my mz-n505 i am sure its captured what was so good about older recordings ,or is it my imagination ,Brian

    mz-n505

Hi i have just bought a mz-n505 minidisc player, which has a awesome sound, but i was wondering about the remote thingy lol that came with it,there seems to be no way of listening to the headphones if the remote is plugged in, and next it came with two siver sony dry batterys r6 size aa 1.5v are they the sort i can charge, only i have no charger with the minidisc, and should i still use sonicstage or should i use some thing else ,sorry about the confusion, i am slowly reading throu the manual, best wishes Brian

  22. Hi paperclip what a brilliant story that is ,made me shiver lol, just to add a little note about minidisc,i went to the supermarket this morning, and the guy working there was selling cassette players to plug into usb,he asked me if i was interested in one, i replyed no thanks i have a minidisc ,well can you believe, that started him off ,he had grown up with minidisc, and loved everything about them lol and is as keen today as ever ,lol 1 hour latter he was still going on about them,as i politely headed for home lol but i can understand why ,Brian
  23. Hi i think to some point you could be right, about safty of having a minidisc plugged in to a cd/radio player aux with a wire hanging, but i have to admit i am about to try this using this gadget off ebay Universal Suction Mobile Phone PDA In Car Holder Mount it looks good and should keep every thing tidy,,and if not out it comes Brian
