  1. Hi Andris,

Thank you very much for your valuable comments.

I manage to get one English version from a seller in UK.

In consider the shot life of the HDD, I plan to make backup for the HDD.

I am not a Unix/Linux guy and the way you introduced to us is not easy one. I don't even has a pc with Linux installed.

  3. if clone goes wrong, u can put back you original hdd. Warning only not to swap disk's between input and output drives then U clean gigajuke's built-in software and system :)

  4. If I put european version on hdd, any music function doesn't work. Better way if you want to expand features, send me original hard drive and i'll expand it on larger, but the instructions written in my page are clearly understandable, i think, U can do it yourself

  5. That you decided to buy Japanese model or already bought it?

  6. ok, if have any questions, U can use skype to call or write on chat directly

    skypename: andrisvasers

If you need it, get it on www.skype.com

  7. Also gigajuke's was made near singapore, in malaysia, maybe there U can get it? :)

  8. I get my gigajuke brand-new approx year ago, from uk, but it's hard to get it, because sony discontinued, that true. I never seen It here in Lavia, because our Sony distributors sells only high availability products not full sony products spectrum. If you can get it from japan, it's ok. You want to buy brand-new or used one? Better suggest brand-new, if available.

  9. .. than equal cheap drives with the same size

  10. And it seems not to play a role with some differences between bioses, principialy devices work identicaly.

Considering HDD, I recommend choosing good hard drive. In my example, I used RE series hard drive from wester digital. In genereal RE hard drives are for RAID arrays, but also offers resource for heavy loads and non-stop working. I suggest RE series drives. They are about 30% expensiv...

  11. considering voltage, You should use auto-transformer that accepts your ac mains and output voltage is gigajuke's capable. There's also chance to remade japanese model to run your's AC mains, by remaking it's power transformer and standby transformer, increasing winding on primary's coil's. It can bee done in some electronics service to remake transformer.

  12. Also there's no chance to enter bios, because it's hardcoded into flash, you can only upload your own bios to chip via jig or progam chip manually :)

  13. N.B. It's not traditional computer, gigajuke is built on sh4 (Renesas) embedded platform, joint with controller and decoder chipsets. For example, gigajuke's processor is used only for controlling processes not for decoding mp3/ATRAC file for playing. If you put bootable CD, it can't understand cd boot records and cannot boot. The software is written (cloned) externaly on prepared d...

  14. .. using google translate. Simply copy paste text from PDF. I also recommend to use sata to IDE(PATA) converter board with Marwell Yukon IDE to SATA Bridge chipet onboard (there are many devices available on market including cheap chineese garbages and also qualitative controllers with good chipsets, such as Marwell).

  15. On my European model there's a language (English, German, French, Spanish) selection option, I think, that also japanese model offers to change languages. Procedure is the same as European model, to clone hard drive contents. You should google for japanese manual in PDF format, then use google translate from PDF manual, I think you can understand in general what is written in japanese using...
