Yep. That's what I call a classic design. It's 6 years old but even today, it looks better than most other DAPs.

First of all, both devices, MD or flash Walkman, produce better sounds than most devices from competitors. The thing is... I really miss using sleak remote with LCD on my shirt drawing people's eyes Back in the days, most people were using CD players. First MD was released without PC support; it enabled people to record music in good quality or other option was cassette tape, MD was truly revolutionary device. Then, PC came with MP3 players. This resulted Sony to release Net-MD, that is MD player supported by PC. NZ-E10 was released back in... eh I don't quite remember but mine was manufactured in 2003 in Sony's famous plan in Japan and supplied charging cradle, remote, and MD Walkman trademark carrying pouch. This device only supports ATRAC3 and ATRAC3plus. I am sure it can support ATRAC3plus 352kbps but I haven't tried it. Since when ATRAC3plus 352kbps was out, I was with NW-S706F. If you really want me to... I was have to pull it out from my display... The thing is, it only supports regular MD, that is about less than half-GB. Now, there is new Hi-MD, that is 1GB. SO, I am really hopoing Sony will release last Hi-MD player with similar demension as MZ-E10. The sound is very nice but I bet MZ-RH1, which is considered to have best sound quality among all MD players. But, I haven't used MZ-E10 for awhile, so I can't compare it to todays NWZ-A810 at this moment until I re-use it and see how it sounds.

As for the HDTV, I use Sharp's Aquos or somehting like that. But Sony's new TV line up design looks nice; anyways, Sharp and Sony started or goign to use same LCD plant so... Other than TV: NWZ-A818, PLAYSTATION3, NW-S706F/B, LAM-X1, NW-S203F/S, NW-A1000/B, NW-E407, PSP, MZ-E10. MZ-E10 is my all time favorite Walkman; it's shame it doesn't support Hi-MD... I would like to see Sony to release very slim, as MZ-E10, Hi-MD player.

I personally use WMP11 for just WAV files. Other than that I use PS3 for AAC files, which also supports album arts; I haven't tried using playlist function on PS3 but I can try it later and let you guys know when I get back home later. Anyhow, it will be nice to see additional software
-
Unfortunately, you can't delete songs via player. Either use software, e.g. WMP11, or explore like you mentioned.

I haven't used this earphone soI don't really know how it feels or sounds but from reading the spec, I don't like the frequency range... It seems like you will be missing some bass with it and some high too. But who know how mid range will be like. Until I hear from those who have actually used one, and them being reliable people, I wouldn't commit to it since it seems like a pricey device. Side note, this really looks like a earphone released earlier from AudioTechnica But, it lookds nice.

According to recent Sony engineer/designer interview on jp.sonystyle.com, they have replaced with new condenser compared to previous model. So, I am expecting some level of sound improvement in NW/NWZ-A820/720 series over previous model. I think I am going to get NWZ-A720 model 8gb. I think $200 for this nice device is very good price and since I don't really use bluetooth headphone.

from: http://www.ecat.sony.co.jp/walkman/product...&KM=NW-A829 it says... it is possible to record "VIDEO" from TV, Camcorder, or DVD recorder WITHOUT using PC via VRC-NW10 (that cradle I think). *record in analog mode (but still nice considering the size of screen, it will be hard to tell a difference from analog from digital). If you use MEDIA MANAGER FOR WALKMAN (atleast for Japanese version, since I haven't read from non JP Sony site), you can transfer internet video from PC to your Walkman (MPEG-4, AVC(H.264/AVC) Baseline Profile). *non-DRM only
-
I think $200 for 8GB flash, bluetooth and nice headphones that comes with it is the best deal in the market in my opinion. $320 for 16GB flash bluetooth and nice headphones ok or little high I think.

For my daily portable music device use, I think 2 to 2.5 inch screen is perfect. I recently purchased SonyEricsson's W890i and will write review soon, but really 2 inch screen is perfect for me.

I've posted little bit of info from jp.sonystyle.com on the following post before: http://www.atraclife.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=4526 I forgot which page it is on, but yeah it does have recording function according to the site: jp.sonystyle.com

I am using Japanese PS3 and it has not worked with previous Japanese NW-S700 series. So, it has never worked with my JP PS3 and JP Walkman. I don't think it's a move to have consumers convert to NWZ series, because NWZ series is not out in Japan and uses NW series with SonicStage.
-
Well, for those wou don't use JP Windows then I guess that's an option. But I use JP Windows so... Anyways, ofcourse Walkman displays English. I remember when MD player remotes displayed English before they displayed kanji
-
The feature has changed some how to work for NWZ series only, as far as I understand. I mean for AAC, MP3 and WMA but not ATRAC since NWZ series does not support ATRAC. As for the previous NW series, e.g. NW-S700 series, no longer works... But, PSP should work fine though.
-
Don't worry naming title of songs in English for Japanese version, NW-A820 series. You may be surprised how many Japanese songs are named in English; Japanese Walkmans have no problem in displaying song titles in English. But, I am not sure whether NW-A820 series will be compatible with non Jananese SonicStage though. So, you may need Japanese SonicStage, which operates under Japanese Windows only.

I was under impression that you were using WMP11. In the case of SS, unless the specific format is supported by the software, it will probably convert it (does SS support VBR?). Maybe drag-n-drop will work without conversion? Anyhow, I knew I wasn't fully understanding your previous commnet and not an expert in this matter.
-
If I understood you right... I believe that's because from WMP11, WMA VBR supports only up to 355kbps. So, any files with bit-rate higher than 355kbps will be converted; not necessarily because of hardware limit, considering linear PCM is at 1411.2 kbps.
-
I know that WMA VBR is supported by NWZ-A810 series but not sure about for AAC VBR. Is CBR=constant bit rate? If so, try using that.
-
Oh, I am sorry if I have mislead you . I ordered from sonystyle.com (US) with price of $319 for NWZ-A829 (I am in US right now). $336 was with the sales tax and they didn't charge me for the shipping.
-
In US, it is common practice (in all goods) not to include sales tax on any products except gas for cars. My pre-order price for NWZ-A829 came out to be $336 and no shipping fee. In Japan, it shows regular price and the price with tax. Also, if you are an importer for Japanese product, you are not required to pay for tax.
-
I have AAC with .3gp and it plays fine on my NWZ-A810 series.
-
Simply put, NWZ-A810 series plays back AAC, MP3, WMA, linear PCM. Which AAC are you using?
-
I cannot say for sure how Sony will change their line-up in your region, but considering their past actions, where SONY UK had best support in terms of product line ups after Japan, I am going to wait and see (just look at SonyEricssons massive Walkman Phone line-up in UK!). In US, SonyEricsson has deleted W890i from US site although it went through FCC; some sites are taking pre-order for W890i even the site has deleted model. So, I guess it all depends and only the time will tell. Good news is, at least, the current Walkmans are region free (excluding Japanese model).
-
I am not sure since when but SONY USA is now selling NWZ-S710 series in USA. http://www.sonystyle.com/webapp/wcs/stores...552921665368515

I think Europe is better market for Sony; so, I am going to wait and see until the release day what they release in Europe.
