if they could do 1) then they wouldnt have to release an new range of walkmans. i think that they have to release a new range because they didnt want 2) to happen in the first place and there may have been some hardware restrictions to use ss. any just my 2 cents.
-
yeah that wouild be great and being able to say the produscts name does wonders. look at the ipod, prada and chocolate! need i say more? but im sure that without ss the walkman name should be enough to get some people on board!
-
i thnk that they will probably will anounce the rolly or what ever it is along with the ss free a810 series. it would be a real pity if they discontinue the a800 series without giving the firmware to add wmp11 support. how ever discontining the a800 series makes sense when you consider the fact a beautiful player doesnt sell well because of ss. so they probably want to try a new strategy without ss and for that they would need to get rid of the a800 series.

this came as a nice suprise. i was kinda disapointed when sony first announced the bt-100, but im glad they have their flag ship model on the ss free ship. but i probably wont get it just for the reason that it doesnt have ss. i was hoping they could have some extra features like an fm tuner. but then again if the a810 series doesnt have anything extra then the a800 series probably can also be freed of ss by maybe a firmware update. but ive alreasy filled my a808 i hope they release 16 gb version or better yet a hard drive version.

sorry about what happened to your a808. i don't know how long the repair will take but i once accidentally washed both my usb and se k800 ( which had a memory stick) and they both worked after i dried them out in the sun. not exactly sure how water proof the a808 is but if they dont change any of the flash memory you might have the songs on it, just like my usb and phone.
-
yeah i noticed that too and it is rather cool to have a pic in the back ground than an empty one but it still drains the battery considerably
-
i imported mine from japan and it says that it is made in china but i havent had any problems with it. it seems like sony has shifted most of their operations to china now and i doubt that there would be a real difference between the ones made in china and japan.

no i haven't re-bought the s706 but i just heard it from my friends and does want me to spend another au 180 and get it, but im short of cash right now. any way about the harshness i have been using the eq seeings that you recommended thnx im still using the se 530 and im pretty satisfied with it at the moment but im egaer to see how the westone 3 goes there has been some rave previews but its been bogged by delays so im not getting my hopes up yet.
-
any way i don't think that the coming of the b100 would signal the discontinuation of the s7xx. only a few online sites seem not to stock them.
-
i just wish that they improve the navigation may be something more like the a808 and may be make the sound more like the s7xx series btw what is SNR?
-
yes the design of the s7xx is on the best i have seen though IMO the a808 and the a1200 are not too far behind.
-
definitely am enjoying the sound of the se530, which is detailed and has good bass although you cant say that its a warm 'phone. does the se210 sacrifice details for a warm and rich sound? one of the main reasons im hesistant to let go of my s530 is beacuse i think i ight miss the details more. well you sure are going through headphones fast!! i might wait for the westone 3s before i consider changing.
-
i feel you man, the a808 doesnt have the warmth of the s706, and it is espacially apparant when you move from the s706.how ever ou can tweak the eq to remove the shrillness a bit ( if you can call that shrillness) i use CB:3, and 2,1,-1,0,-1.
-
i found not the 4 gb capacity the problem but the clunky interface. after using the a808 there is really no way i can go back to turning nobs!!
-
yep i will have to agree with juli on that the a808 seems to have a more shriller sound when compared to the s706. i have both and i can vouch for the warm sound of the s706 although with a little bit of eq tweaking the a808 can be rid of the harshness although no eq can give it the warm sound of the s706 , IMO.
