🙂 Easy and still made by SONY 🙂 PS from je780 fits too but it has addtional pin wich sgould be skipped. Probably not workin JE780 will be more expencive so .... i recomend JE470 as a donor.

Hi all. I know that it is a few years old topic but i can share the idea how to covert this player for 230/240V. First off all power supply from Je480 or Je470 is needed. From time to time you can find the adverts with no working or without drive inside. Both i tested and they mechanically fit. The only thing to desolder and switch the cables. This from 470/480 are too short so the origina (Japaneese) version should be used. In the original cables should be reorder !!!. If anyone will be interested i can share the order. There is no other way to this conversion because this model was produced only for Japaneesse market, and probably the main transformer has no EU version.

You're the best. I didn't even think about that, and I spent my entire struggle not connecting the drive 🙂 i repair faulty drive and i check it in other player. And now I have three MDS-S500s 🙂 Thx a lot as usual 🙂 Next problem is comming from Japan - this time JA-333ES 🙂

Hi Im trying to repair MDS-S500. The problem is that after power up the red led is not light, display is blank and relay on power board is clicking loudly once and then starts clicking quietly. Power Board, Display board and BD board with laser are OK for 100% - chcecked in 2nd player. I received this player with belt problem with minidisc blocked inside. I have no schematic for this player so im trying to work with some small understaning how it should work based on other players which i repaired. What i meassure was 3.3V called backup wich delivers the power to the processor to be in standby mode. I meassured it and it looks ok. i replaced all caps in power section, but with no result. it looks for me that the processor is trying to start standby mode but it is not possible because of overload, or something else. As i understand the only voltage in this stage is 3.3V used for standby. Does anyone has the schematic to this player or service manual ? I know that the processor can be dead but.... Any advice ?
