  1. Redian, I'm not sure what you mean by "Connect Player won't respond to any command". Can you see the library, connect, playlist, and device icons in the upper left hand corner? Can you click on any of them and have the views change? Do the pull down menus work? It is very unusual for software to just stop working, unless something is really wrong with the system. It might be that things are moving very slowly, and because it takes so long you are seeing it as non responsive. I want to help out here, but I need to know the information above to help you.
  2. Redian, I posted this elsewhere, but you'll find that things go much, much smoother with the "artistlink background service" feature turned off. It takes up CPU cycles and a lot of memory, and its on all the time. Disabling it in the internet preferences, then exiting and restarting the player, will go a long way toward helping you be more stable. Do you have at least 512MB of RAM and a reasonably fast (2ghz) CPU? If not, running XP and the player at the same time with a large-ish (3000+ tracks) library will be a slow experience for you.
  3. I think I understand. On the PC I saw, there are 2 different devices that appear in the upper left hand window with the same name. Both are independent from each other, and I can put content on either one without the other getting it. Perhaps you just need to name the device so you know which one you are working on? If you right mouse click on the device name and choose rename, it lets you call it whatever you want. That way, when you plug in each device, you'll know exactly which one you are working with. Seems to work this way for me, anyway.
  4. For your startup problem I recommend looking at my post over there. It may help you out. I think if I understand your question correctly, you want to delete anything you've sent to the Walkman and not delete the stuff in your PC. If that's true then you are golden, as the player already works this way. However, in "sync" mode, deleting something from the PC will delete that same something from the Walkman. Does that explain it?
  5. All the CDs I've tried so far work for ripping. What CD is it? Maybe I have it somewhere and don't know its broken.
  6. You should try one of these suggestions, depending on your situation currently: 1. Delete everything in the library directory (mine's found here "C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Sony Corporation\CONNECT Player\Library"). This usually works for me when things don't start up cleanly. 2. Once you are up and running, turn off the "background service" in the preferences. Its under internet options. That sped up my load times greatly and made things work more smoothly. Hope those help you out.
