music dj cant be expert becose materials he use to arrange sounds in room are artifical house (like style) have no any sounds that we can hear live, like violin voice or acustic drums and its impossible to say how must sounds sampled guitar or voice, it comes throgh millions effects and it can sound right even in mp3 128 - may be its composer and dj choice ))) but live performance is live sounds: i have a lot studio recordings and even cd 44 compared to 96 its HUGE difference It's only my point of view that i cant see here hi-fi portable audio with flash or hdd

- Sasha no album is 100kb, unless you are referring to a photo of the album cover. - ha!! - this mean that all dream about compress ewrything to zero compress music, compress pictures, compress memory, compress air and water... its so dumb we just luse - I have a3000 (atrac lossless tra ta ta...) and compared to cd walkman 985 it sound like cheep motorola cell and compared to vinil or tape - its just fun. Its not about music or sound, Its all about fastfood for ears. I love my ears and prefer hear outer world sounds then cheep compressed shit. Its just my opinion to sony's politics in portable audio

In fact it's a very expensive broken cellphone. Sony foget bout evrything but money: 8 gb flash - around 100$ retail, qvga screen - kidding?! But i forget one thing - ones how can listen music from cellphone don't mind bout such things like quality.. Seems like all wondering how it can be cool to have all music in one hand - cd album - 100 Kb Woaaw. Mine all mine

I try it all and situation same. When i play music (any bitrate) from NW-A3000 by using sonicstage i have clean signal (if it clean in fact). Mix in headphone of a3000 out - ok, but same mix in line out - its UNLINE OUT. Line out has standart spec. Sony must tell about new standarts if they do.

I mean that if i record sound in left channel i dont want here it from right. May be i am dumb, but all i want that if i record in left i want here it from left - only. Not a big thing for my lovely 985 cd walkman (line out), but impossible for a3000. I am not talking that 985 sounds much more better then mp3 players, its all only about enchanced stereo that i dont wanna here. If it one of the turn on/turn off function- ok, but it always on even in line out - its bad. About it no words in instruction. why it exist?! A3000 its not tamagochi - its player and basic functions must be standart for player or other music device or if its unstandart it must be easy to see.

After test NW-A608 i see that model have no stereo too. SONY can't produce flash/hdd audio devices with even normal sound like cd or md walkmans. Don't know what about you, but that "sound" not for me. I'll will take money back and test creative vision m - may be it have no perverted sound.

I ask friend of my to test nw-a608 and result is the same - no clean stereo I have no full information (even in instruction) before buy toy named player and take money back. Seems after cd or tape walkmans there are no more portable with fine sound. sony's product orientation ...

Same problem (problems). As i see sony made line of harddrive\flash players for those who have no questions about how it works and why it have no stereo. Just enjoy but dont try to understand or rely on it - its toy and nothing more. Seems like first time since i use sony (from 1988 or) i think about how good it may be ... after homebrew reflash.

I mean that my walkman a3000 have almost stereo (may be its unit breakage or may be its sony's sound)

Hello I use player (NW-A3000) as metronome (left channel) and music back line (right channel). And all pauses in right channel have a strong click (from left one). In line out or headphones - both. Wav in wavelab have no any even low level signals - all clean. In transfer settings I allways use atrac advanced lossless. and have no problem in sonicstage playback from player. Is all bad as i see?! I hope my unit is broken Strange feelling - like thats a way its should be If its so - i have no words to say. STEREO = SOMETHING LIKE STEREO If you please you can try simple test: I made test file and save it in two formats as wav 44 24 and mp3 320 http://rapidshare.com/files/13383323/stereo_test.rar.html File contains 12 clicks in left (ONLY left channel) and then 12 clicks in right (ONLY right channel) and same again If you takeout one of headphone (left or right) - after 12 clicks you hear total lack of sound (Silence) Thats right?!

Joke, but may be it give a chance to save i am not programmer or haker ))) my suggestion is: line out or 2 ways with mic: you can use microphone to record some tracks from speakers connected to player or best way (to save emotions from lost music - for me this is most important) : you can listen music with headphones and sing it to mic

Is there any way to make display lighting up to 7 min? and turn off time to 10 min? i use player for additional instruments\metronome on concerts with band and it's shut down too fast and starting too slow between songs

I use koss the plug, for me they sound nice + comfort

I think that player must be simple, firm. If some one need video or pics - just go for sonyericsson. Seems we talk bout audio player or so?!

anyway it must be: 1) much faster in use 2) pcm recording/playback 3) jog dail for navigate 4) standart usb connector 5) standart accumulator 6) and any damn bad screen, but with possibility to use it in daylight ps: bluetooth or something faster

i like hi bitrates, no eq and seems 13 hr it is not so poor its just expirience of "player's life"

I use max bitrate of atrac, max volume, min brightness life - about 13 hr and when i use line output life seems to be shorter

If there will be function in display mode called "allways on" - thats gonna be great! sometimes i need allways see which song next and time line and charge indicator can be more informative, what problem if i want to see status while it's chargin (if i connect player to usb - stoopid show me that is just charge - ewrybody knew that fact)

hope that means longer (much longer ) buttery life for me
