don’t hope too much. there is no indication in the service manual how to unlock the volume limiter :-( (similar to the nw-e100/200/300/400/500 series)

Europeans: Boost the Volume of the NW-A3000/1000
nw_lover replied to Christopher's question in Audio
what is your firmware version? -
the reason is very simple ; because of the accessories (like the cradle) it was the better/cheeper solution to use a multi connector. if sony would use the "normal" usb connector it's necessary to have an audio processor for the line out for example in the cradle (means close to a second mp3 player in the cradle) and the cost for the accessories would increase drastic. the multi connector for a1000/3000 has a lineout and therefore sony has the possibility to produce cheeper accessories. it makes no sense to use the same audio processor twice. (once in the cradle and once in the a1000/3000) i agree, it would be more handy to have a normal usb connector but checkout all staff with a cradle/docking station were you have an audio or video output like your mobile phone(hand free kit) and you will find out it's almost standart to use a special connector. nw_lover

I don't think Sony will announce a new HD Walkman @CES because the A1000/3000 are still to new (1-2 month in the market). Any new player would definitely harm Sony's sales on A1000/3000

use google and you will find it : http://www.finanznachrichten.de/nachrichte...kel-4978032.asp it's to complicated to find all features on the webside :-) and it seams to be the same processor as Cowon used for there iAudio X5 20GB (with video function)

Sadly it will never happen because HD5 has no wma decoder. Sony used for HD5 there own processor (CXR704060-201GA) which has no wma support. Btw it’s the same processor for E400/E500 and A600. In case of A600 sony added a wma decoder chip (IC 601 / LC823231N) to have wma support This chip is missing in HD5,E400 and E500 series. (and it’s not possible to add it) For the new A1000/3000 Sony used a new audio processor form Freescale (IC 6005 / SCF5250) This audio processor has a lot of features like WMA support (incl. DRM), lossless Codec (Flac,Ogg) support or even JPEG and Video function. I hope sony will enable some more codec in the future For more information check out the website : http://www.freescale.com/webapp/sps/site/p...rH3YTLC00M93109

it's strange after playing a round with the a1000, i could get the artist link feature work :-) don't ask me how but as you can see in the attached picture it works ?! i have only mp3 on my a1000 and all have the same id tag information but it works not for all the artists/songs ?! mmmmmmmm strange it seams that the a1000 has its on life somehow and as more as you use it as more funktion are available ;-)
-
for play history the update only take place every time you connect the player to CP. connect the player to CP disconnet it and you will see the songs in the history the favorite shuffle is linked to your 100 top songs. is this folder empty the shuffle will not work. the same her, every time you connect the player to CP the update will happen. no solution yet for artist link

did you use sonic stage or CP to transfer the tracks ? in case of sonic stage the 2 funktion will not work.
-
you can, no problem. the initial search funktion works also with sonic stage

buy the cradle BCR-NWU1. this cradle has a line out and you can connect the remote at the same time
-
sorry to say but i have big doubt that it is possible to do that on HD5 (far to risky for sony!!) according to my information as sun as you plug in the remote/headphone the lineout is switched of. in case of A1000 it is not possible. the display shows the attached message. But back to your remote question. The best remote in my eys is the RM-MC35ELK because all funktion on the remote are working and you can display artist, track and album name (not at the same time) This is not possilbe with the RM-MC33EL. Only the time information is displayed. In case of RM-MC40 only 2 out of the 3 line display are working and the first line shows always the track nr.
