Do you think higher capacity players like this will be released? 8GB is a big step down from my 20GB Walkman, and is very low considering the iPod Video has 80GB, which is also a flash player :s I love Walkman's, but when you have an iPod Video right there with 80gb for around the same price, it's difficult to choose which I'd prefer, quality over quantity!

What button do you press to turn the Walkman on? If you press the Play button, the first song will start playing on start-up... I press the Option button to turn it on which solves this problem
-
It's now 7 months on and my EX71's are still going strong after continuous use! No sign of the cable melting or splitting. Maybe Sony changed the material used on the cables??
-
I won't be giving up the Connect Player until an Automatic Synch feature is added to SonicStage, so my Walkman's library is always identical to my PC library which Connect handles really well
-
Wow, yours sounds pretty bad. The worst I have is that in the bottom left on the back, the back cover has become sort of unstuck so there's less than 1/4mm space between the curvy metal bit and the back cover. Not a big deal at all really, just makes a vibration sound when harshly putting it onto a hard surface. I've had my NWA3000 since December '05 and dropped it onto concrete twice from a height of maybe a metre, so I'm actually pretty impressed that with the weight of it and the way it's been dropped, that its only been damaged in this way. I have lots of tiny scratches on the front but you can only see them if you inspect it closely.

I also got mine from Amazon.co.uk

Yeah, the Sony logo has replaced the CONNECT logo, so I guess the CONNECY Player really is being abandoned.
-
Exactly.. if you use the method I said above, it will play it in the correct order: CD 1 (track 1-15), then CD 2 (track 16-30).

I'll only move over to SonicStage when they implement the ability to synchronise the library with the Walkman like CP does. So pleeeease Sony, can we have synchronisation back please!? Having said that, I still prefer CP's layout. It's much more uniform and the device view isn't available in SonicStage unless you go through Transfer. And I don't like having to go through the annoying dropdown menu when I want to choose where to get music from. I much prefer the menu on the left of CP which has Library, CD's, Store, Devices and Playlist included...

I only have one double album but what I do is number all the tracks correctly (1 - 15) for CD1, and then for CD2 start from number 16 instead of number 1 - simple! The player doesn't display the track numbers anyway.

I have installed SonicStage CP and thought I'd give it a go. I sort of assumed I'd stick with it but kept CONNECT just in case anyway. I plugged my NWA-3000 in and let it do the Auto Transfer, and of course I ended up with duplicates from what my CONNECT player put on there, so I just wiped the Walkman and started fresh. All transfered well. And then I found out something sort of annoying. I made a few changes in the Library and deleted a few things, but nothing changed on my Walkman. The deleted tracks were still in there, and clicking Auto Transfer did nothing. So, do I really have to change both the Library AND the Walkman to keep both the same? I love the Synchronise feature in CONNECT Player where it keeps the Library and Walkman identical. If there is no such feature in SonicStage CP I may have to go back to CONNECT...

EDIT: decided to make a new thread for my question...

I've upgraded to the new WMP (which has the Vista theme to it), I had Connect Player open to update my Walkman, plugged the Walkman (NWA-3000) in and Media Player started synchronising my "Library" to the Walkman!? So now I had a folder called "Music" on my player with my useless MP3's in it! Now, if someone could make a mod similar to the Winamp plugin for WMP... hehe. I now can't work out how to remove the Walkman from the device list in WMP!

Just to let you know, I decided to buy MDR-EX71's from Amazon UK. I saw them in HMV for £40 and couldn't be bothered to pay that much, then saw them on Amazon for £25. Brill! Have to say I am extremely impressed with them so far! Just waiting for the cable to start splitting/melting apparently hehe.

Hehe, I'm clearly not an audiophile then LOL. I was only basing my opinion on the earphones I've used, which are all stock buds, and of all the ones I've heard, the E808's have been amazing hehe. I guess all my other stock buds have been totally dreadful then! Thanks for your suggestions guys! I'll check them out

Hi all, I received the NWA-3000 for Christmas and I really didn't like the earphones that came with it because they were far too big for me, and were very uncomfortable. I already had a Sony CD Walkman (can't remember the model, sorry) and the earphones that came with it are the MDR-E808. They always fitted me well and were very comfortable for me. So, I put my NWA-3000 phones away and chose to use the E808's. I never really thought about the actual audio quality of the 2 sets. Then the other night, I was listening to my Walkman and then all of a suddent the right 'phone stoped working? So I jiggled the wires about where they merge into the plug and every so often the right 'phone would work for a few moments. But right now it will not work. So I plugged in the phones that came with the Walkman, and oh boy, it sounded horrible compared to my E808's. The sound seemed muffled, the awesome guitar riff on the song I was listening to at the time was quiet, and the vocals were very clear. I plugged in my E808's again to see the difference (Even though only the left one was working) and the music sounded amazing again. So I'm very miffed right now that I'm having to use the Walkman stock phones, so I'm going to have to either buy a new pair of E808's, or buy a pair someone could recommend? I'd rather buy the E808's because I know they are comfortable for me, but if there is something similar and better sounding out there, please let me know! I'm going to Crawley on Tuesday so I'll pop in to the SonyStyle shop there. Thanks

GYM | Network Walkman BROWSER-PLAYER-EXTRACTOR
Chris J replied to xispe's topic in Grab Your Music (GYM)
I got GYM to work with my NW-A3000 first try.. I imported the crack tracks in SonicStage and then followed the instructions to be able to use CONNECT, I've had no problems at all!! All works really nicely. But yes, MP3FM doesn't work (but I never intended on using it anyway). -
You could try defragmenting the player? It made my player a little quicker, as my hard drive was awfully fragmented for some reason. If you are going to defrag, be aware it uses up a lot of battery power..

My NW-A3000 vibrates slightly when changing tracks too!

GYM | Network Walkman BROWSER-PLAYER-EXTRACTOR
Chris J replied to xispe's topic in Grab Your Music (GYM)
Hey xispe, I already posted somewhere up there that GYM works perfectly on my NW-A3000 I don't mind wiping my Walkman all that much, I've done it a few times and it only takes a few minutes to transfer everything back over, so I'd be happy to do some testing for you! -
I have tried a black / dark grey one but I haven't got a clue how to change the text colour! Unless there is a way to make the text white then you can't read it unfortunately.

GYM | Network Walkman BROWSER-PLAYER-EXTRACTOR

Wow, thanks for the great program!! Succesful installed GYM on my NW-A3000 with Sonic Stage as the instructions said (I use CONNECT normally, though) and then followed the further instructions to make it work with CONNECT, and it works perfectly! Thanks again! -
Feel free If you host them, it'd be a good idea to host the originals too (which I only have 1 of as I said) if people overwrite the original purple. Glad you like them (Although I can't see anyone using the yellow, orange or red haha).

Hi all, After looking through the CONNECT directory I found 2 images that control the interface in CONNECT. I was curious to see if I could recolour these in Adobe Photoshop so I could change the purple colour, and it worked. I was very surprised to see this; most interfaces are hard coded into the programs but CONNECT grabs the interface from a standard PNG image! Which makes it stupidly easy to change the look of the program. It is intirely possible to change all the buttons, and if I wanted to, it could put "iTunes" (for example) at the top of the window where it says CONNECT. Here they are (you'd have to be brave to use a couple of these colours admittedly LOL): Green Preview | Download Blue Preview | Download Gold/Green Preview | Download Rose Preview | Download Red Preview | Download Yellow Preview | Download Orange Preview | Download Silver Preview | Download INSTALLATION: Un-zip the fileGo to: 'C:\Program Files\Sony\CONNECT Player\Scripts'[iMPORTANT] Find 'large-background.jpg' and 'window-background.png' and MOVE THEM or BACK THEM UP. These are the files you will be replacing and contain the original purple skin. Should you wish to revert back to the original skin, you will have kept these files to do so. Without them you cannot get the original purple skin back unless you re-install CONNECT or get a nice friend to send the original files to you =)Now copy the files you unzipped earlier and paste them into The Sony\CONNECT Player\Scripts folder (which should still be open unless you just closed it)DONE!You could also mix-and-match different colours if you wanted. On that note, would anyone be so kind to send me the original 'large-background.jpg' file? I overwrote it before thinking! I hope someone finds these useful / enjoys them - they're just a bit of fun. Feel free to make some yourself and post them here to share! As I said, they are stupidly easy to make as everything is contained within 1 PNG file except the background texture. -Chris

My A3000 also 'creaks' but only when I press firmly on the small Walkman logo in the bottom right, which I obviously don't need to press! But seriously, it can't be good if it makes a loud creak when pressing the buttons! Mine feels very solid when pressing them, and all I hear is a nice soft click of the button popping back up. PS: I love the picture of a rubbish bin with a cross through it on the back of my player. As if I'd throw it away!
