As with all software, there might be catastrophic bugs that make your house fall down around your ears. To be honest, the biggest risk is that it might corrupt the data on your walkman's hard drive. If that happens, you'll have to format it and start filling it up again. Not really the end of the world is it?
  2. Yes. My iRiver iFP180T. It's 128mb makes it virtually useless for my needs these, but it's a great little thing. Sound quality is ace, it's pretty robust, it's got good battery life. That said, I might try taking it mountain-biking. Don't think I'd be up for taking the NW-A3000 out in the mud
  3. omfg, walkman! fap fap! it's so sexy and i don't care if its a shit product, it just looks nice!!! You know, I'm slowly but surely coming around to the fact that the ipod is actually a damn good series of products. Why? iTunes. The walkman? The hardware is great, sexy, works, ace. The software though? It's thoroughly awful in just about every way. Unstable, ugly, crappy to use... It's the reason my next portable music player won't be a Sony. Apple seems to be the only company out there who understands that the software that accompanies the player is every bit as important as the player itself. Sony just don't seem to understand that at all.
  4. - Mac OS-X compatibility. - Smaller. - Mac OS-X compatibility. - Faster. - Bigger capacity (20gb simply isn't enough). - Better battery life. - Mac OS-X compatibility. - Lighter. - Decent support for compilation albums. - "Play the next album when I've finished this one" mode. - Decent selection of accessories (speaker system with wireless remote, car kits, inline remotes, bluetooth earphones, that sort of thing). - Did I mention I want to use it with Mac OS-X?

    MacOS

OK then... GAAAH! Typing "Mac OS" into the search box just throws errors at me and "Apple" gives me a bunch of irrelevant results Any ideas how I might find it? I think I'd need another copy of Windows to do that. I guess I'll just have to wait for DarWINE to mature a bit...

    MacOS

You know when something occurs to you after the event? You know, like when you buy a spanking new MacBook and then only later do you think "Hang about, my Walkman's not going to work with this now is it?" Short of installing Parallels / Bootcamp, does anybody have an suggestions for Mac software that communicates with the NW-A3000? Or will I have to carry on firing up the old PC in the corner? [not to mention reinstalling the Sony Software - neither SS or Connect will even start ever since I installed SS 4]
  9. I have exactly the same problem - if you or anybody else comes up with a solution please let me know.

    Using NW-A3000 in a car

That one looks fine to me - If you're really worried, try plugging your headphone lead into the aux socket first - if it fits you'll know it's a 3.5mm stereo jack and the above cable should work. Let us know how it goes
