  1. uh, the N10 has a 6 band eq, how can it possibly sound worse than a N1?
  2. urm imped of 24 ohms isn't good for an md... more like for pc use md phones should be 8 or 16 ohms
  3. hey, another fb2k user cd -> eac + lame @ 320 -> mp3 -> fb2k + EX70 ety eq mod + kernel sampling, 24bit/96khz -> optical to md
  4. you can't upload with netmd, your only option would be to hook the md up to your comp's line in and record it as a wav file or some other format and burn the wave file...
  5. I don't think the 505 comes stock with a power adaptor, neither am I sure if it has a dc in as it doesn't come with a charging kit...
  6. I did the hack for 3 friends: R500, N505 and R707, all worked perfect... it's a 1 minute job and heaps worth it haven't tried it on any of my units as all my new sonys are 9s and 1s
  7. I kinda remember saying to myself "now THAT's what I should have bought" when I saw the E10 for the first time, a day after I bought my N10 lol
  8. pic looks dodgy heh N10s dont come with E805s... I wouldn't make a bid on an auction without full size scans of live pics
  9. think of it this way (from a sound point of view)... MP3 was introduced as a format used to store audio on computers at reasonable file sizes for common people like you and me who can't afford to store a few hundred megs of .wav files... well maybe we can NOW but MP3s came out when the largest hard drives were just over a gig in space... hence MP3s were developed from a computing technology point of view with the common goal to compress audio files to take up much smaller amounts of space... ATRAC/MD however was developed solely for music listening purposes, something that would replace the cassette corder and be very similar to the CD in functionality and sound quality, hence ATRAC being aimed to achieve CD-quality while being able to fit the same length of audio into a much smaller disc... Because of that, audio features (esp. recording) are what makes the MD superior over the common MP3 player... the ability to manipulate and edit the audio stored in a MD instead of just copying ripped MP3s into a MP3 player

    Need help!

    no such thing as optical out on a portable, also no such thing as self adjusting eq or bass... even your R50 doesn't have those features...
  11. rofl omg I should insure my old mds and trash them... you think they'd give me a N910 for a beat up R90?
  12. why not just get a N510 and hack it? =P vpt+6band > ds preset anyday
  13. if size is important... I guess good ol' N1 would be it... or else N710 has everything the N1 has 'cept for the 3 line higher res LCD, backlit remote and the fully aluminium shell... 710 has a hard plastic black shell and is quite a bit thicker, uses the same gumstick batt tho... N710 also has vpt + 6-band EQ, ATRAC-S yada yada... personally I'd go for the 710, the 6-band EQ REALLY makes a difference in sound
  14. RM-MC33EL/35ELK? =P go to sony central and ask them to open up the md display cabinet... they have heaps of remotes in there... just grab one and test it out
  15. hrm I wont support standalone mp3 players but I'll have to say that clies are pretty nice... although they lack tone controls... it's nice to have a full colour spectrum analyzer with everyone on the bus looking at you lol
  16. errrrrrrrrr R50 is THE LEGENDARY MD and you're saying that you dont trust sony anymore because the R50 recording head broke down? your R50 has probably served you no less than 5 years, I think that's pretty damn good for a corder
  17. oh forgot one thing... N510 has no VPT, only digital sound preset (treble + bass settings)
  18. N10 = N10 10th anniv model with VPT (equalizer and effects), 64x max Net-MD, Type S, new remote (dual line disc + title display in japanese ver), ultra-slim with built in internal li-ion and a load of other not so significant features R910 = N10 + gumstick batt (hence no internal batt) N710 = N10 w/o leetox remote (has only plain non-backlit remote) and only 32x max Net-MD transfer, everything else the same as N10 except being quite a bit bigger (compared to N10 standards anyway) and uses NH-WM10 (ewww...) gumstick batt... and of course, a plastic shell N510 = N710 with lcd-less remote and ni-cd AA batt but why use sony when auvi owns your butt?
  19. unless you use dolby headphone mode (which sounds like crap anyway imo), you have no use for a dolby plug
