I had a similar problem with my MZN707. Turns out it was vibration. I just got a foam pad to put it on and the problem was cured.

Yep, I got a laugh out of it myself. Didn't think you were being cocky. I guess you could call what I did a boomerang post. Try to give someone a slap and I give myself one with my own hand. Hee Hee. I have been on many different type of forums and I don't usually make that mistake. As they say, oh well, S**t happens.

Oops. This slow connection can sure be a pain! Try to make a point and I get egg on my face. Must have been tired when I made that post. Irony is a good thing. Ahh well, today is another day.

Yep, the hack gives you an alternative to line out. Pretty close though.

Hey Jed. Try the search button. It works quite well. Great for newbies who don't know how to use the forums. Also, double posts do not get faster response. Just ties up bandwidth. As for your problem, try a battery box or preamp. I use cheap mics with great response. Built from scratch, not purchased.

A battery box is a must if you are to get good quality from loud concerts. If you are handy, you can build one. I have built a simple box and it works excellent. The schematics and instructions can be found on this site at the home page under Hacks.

It's good to hear a positive post about MD. Lately I have read many "MD is obsolete" posts. In my opinion, you cannot get anything this portable with as many featues as the mini disc has. I cannot even dream of using anything else! Minidisc is here to stay!

The 707 is a great unit for this. You can still buy them at E-Bay, but the prices are starting to go up. Go figure! The one thing to consider though, is the manual record level feature has to be re-configured after the unit is turned off. Most Sharp units stay in this setting even after they are turned off. Sound quality is great and the record level setting is the only feature I can see that is a nusance. I built my own mic, so I can't give any advise on that.

What model is it? Have you disconnected all the cables?
-
Yes. But it will have to be in real time. You will have to connect a 3.5 stereo male to male cable from the mic/line out to the PC line in. I use a program called N-Track. Great for recording onto your hard drive. There are many other programs out there you could use though.
-
Stereo does sound better. I use two programs for editing my mixes. One is N-Track to record the music to Hard drive, and the other is Cool Edit for processing the channels separately. They are not Freeware, but they are worth every penny! Experimentation is the key.

This may be a little late but try this link. It is a Canadian site but it may give you an idea what is available. Find it here

Plug in Power mic PRE-AMP (is it possible to build one?)
MD4DNV replied to Mack Attack's topic in Software
Try this link. http://www.minidisc.org/mic_preamp/Simple%...ic%20Preamp.htm There are also some good construction projects for battery boxes etc. I built my own battery box and stereo mic and they work great on my N707. -
Joe, I did some research. It seems that the Imagedrive program is not included in the 11 MB version. It is only available from the CD version. Or you can download it from the link above that jermz gave us. I am still looking for a full version without the language pack because the 300 Mb file will take me 41 hrs to download! Stinkin' 28.8 dial-up. To answer your question about Warez, it is a file that gives you the program with an illegal crack or access. Alot of them can contain a virus or spyware. Hope this helps.

Paypal has been bought out by e-Bay. The transition may have caused a few problems. I have been using Paypal to buy and sell for a few years now and haven't had one problem. Not to say they don't exist. I also do not keep much of a balance in the account just in case.

I'm glad to see that I am not the only old fogee here  I'm 46 and just got my first MD. N707. Just loving it. I wish I had one of these things when I was a teenager! Going to use it alot for recording my band. A tape player just doesn't cut it! Too Kewl! 8)
