Thanks for your reply. What I need to do is "upload" a speaking session from a N707 or N1 to my computer to make a CD. Would I lose much quality by just plugging right into my computer and not using one of these devices? It seems like to me you still have to convert to an analog signal at some time. I'm new to Minidiscs and was wondering what people's comments were about the Sony N707. I need something that I can record speaking sessions at conferences and tradeshows. I will be coming from a 12 channel mixer at mic level. Do these have good sound? Do they hold up? Any other comments or ideas for me? How much is an acceptable price to pay? I know that in April Sony will be coming out with new ones but I need this before than. Thanks
