  1. Last night i recorded a heavy rock band at a club. it was the first time i used the bass roll off battery box from sound masters through the line-in. the sound quality is much improved, but the playback volume is a lot quieter than before. what would cause that? the box, line in? record volume was on auto like before.
  2. I got mine from Sound Professionals too. referred by this site. thanks a lot for the info.
  3. There is also a Record Volume setting in my MD. i can set in in a range from the mic pickup. would this cut down on overload without lowering my playback volume? its been on auto till now.. this is where a lit screen would come in handy.
  4. I just got a battery box with base roll off for recording loud rock shows. i'm hoping this will reduce overload. Do i run this to the Line In or Mic? and do i keep the microphone's battery in place or remove it?
  5. does anyone know, when you upload mic recordings from the hi md, will it maintain the track count? as opposed to it being one big recording like when recording with the sound card. and i should have no problem converting it as a wave file?
  6. I don't understand the tech talk here.. but am looking to upgrade to the Hi-Md 800 for recording and editing purposes. does this info mean that i can't use my sony mic i use with the N-10 for the hi md?
  7. what does the digital amp do? does it improve recordings, or just for headphones? i just need something for good recording and USB upload that will be better than my N-10. i'm thinking the 800 will suit my needs.. or does the 900 offer any recording advantages?
  8. yea, Hi-Md. i don't think the 600 can use a mic. i'm using it for live recordings now, but usb upload will make things a lot easier.
  9. any word when is this thing being released in the US? i need a jump on it so i can get most my $$ back by selling my N-10.
  10. The bass reduction pack is an interesting option.. this is a DIY documentary.. i'll look into DAT with cable access possibly later for other segments. for now, the sound i'm recording isn't all that bad.. some of it damn good. though if i can reduce bass for certain bands that would be a huge plus. talking to the saund guy makes good sense too. so far i've just been hammering on lighting issues. i don't want to go through the sound board, then i lose control of film-record sync.. its important to have an off the hip compact recording system.
  11. I'm trying to improve the quality of my indoor recordings at live shows. it doesn't have to be studio quality, but cleaner for a film documentary. if i could improve on one thing it would be the bass echo i get with loud shows. i'm currenty using low mic sens on SP, with a Sony stereo mic on moni. not a bad mic for outdoor shows and dialog.. can anyone recommend a better mic for cleaner recording at club shows?
  12. I've recently been using a MZ-N10 to record sound along with silent 8mm movie film.. sync on PC after i record through the sound card in real time. my question is, other than speedy USB upload, and more recording time on discs, will the HI-MD give me better quality recordings as files on my computer?
  13. will the HI MD be able to mic record and upload with usb? maybe a dumb question, but i also bought a net MD thinking i could do that.
  14. i just did my first upload test with audacity. for now i'm happy that it worked and i'm actually able to put recordings into a file on my PC. the quality is ok, a little quiet. i'll probably just make due with it untill the HI MD's come out.
  15. thanks, i just got my cables in the mail today and will try to upload tonight. i'm going to use the Audacity software. i was told that i can record too with windows recorder?
  16. would i get better sound quality from a USB connection opposed to the In jack?
  17. can this program be used with a USB? i found an adapter that has several in and outs with a USB connecting to the computer. i'm using the MZ-N10, need to upload recorded sounds to sync with film work on the computer. need something where i can move the audio files freely around my HD.
  18. i've been putting together a setup for my film work. recently i purchased the MZ-N10 in hopes to upload recorded sounds and dialog to sync to my films. of course i was disapointed when i loaded Sony's software. from what i read Audacity may work suit my needs. would something like this: http://europe.hercules.com/showpage.php?p=...4&b=1&f=1#debut , allow me to load sound through the USB instead of the audio in? for better quality capture? any help would be appreciated
