  1. Hi Kurisu, I wonder if you are familiar with the old saying "It's not what you know, it's not who you know, it's who you blow." After spending 12 years working for one of the largest companies (at the time 1976 - 1988) in this country, seeing less qualified people promoted or given cushy duties was commonplace for me. Of course my being outspoken, with a tendency to use foul language and heavily tattooed wasn't exactly the best thing to be either. But when the hard jobs were being handed out, when so called superiors needed help or when there were new people to train - I was the first to be called on. All kidding aside, being direct is excellent advice. Being unappreciated and more to the point being unhappy at work, sooner or later will impact into your private life. Knowing exactly where you stand might give you a better idea of your own future plans. Whatever you do think long and hard first - don't do anything in the heat of the moment.
  2. I'm sure not everyone on this forum or all people living in the rest of the world regard Americans in a bad light because of the actions of the US. Government. Yes I agree but I'm pretty sure the "American Empire" will see me out. I think all western countries are going thru the same sort of experience - ie. the rise of the religious right. It seems strange that apart from the war in Iraq, issues like same sex marriage or the granting of defacto status to same sex couples are just as much of an issue here as perhaps in the US. Strangely enough it is not the mainstream churches here kicking up the biggest stink over these issues, but it is the born-again fundamentalists, charismatics and the extreme right wing (so called religious) politicians that are the real stirrers. Politicians who promise heaven and deliver hell, politicians getting into office to line their own pockets, jobs disappearing off-shore, the widening gap between rich and poor - we got these in this country as well. The fact that over 50 million Americans did not vote for Bush seems to be a positive sign.
  3. As Sknight has stated the old G750 remotes were far easier to use. Granted there are more functions and as a consequence more buttons on the new remotes but I have been using the NF800 for a few weeks now and before that the NF810 (identical remote) for many months and I still haven't got used to the buttons.....damn these fat fingers. As for the remote being kind of left handed, well as a lefty it doesn't seem that way for me. My reception however is just great on both AM and FM. I gotta have a radio with my MD unit and as someone who has broken two G750 remotes I now have 3 radio remotes for the NF800. (Just in case.)
  4. I like the new look, especially the blue colour.
  5. That is true Ascariss, but for me with 80 plus discs of music most of them compilations, I have to have labelling otherwise its means placing each disc into the player to read the disc label til I find the one I want.
  6. That's interesting about the backlight. The photo in the minidisc.org equipment browser shows a remote that is identical to the NF810 remote (RM-MC37LT) Great pictures on the site everything is so big you can see every detail on all these units. Never having owned or seen a backlit remote, I was wondering how the light on existing remotes for other models are operated, is there an on/off button for it? While I was looking for a site to pre-order the NH800, some sites would mention the backlight and some sites made no mention of it. They all however quoted RM-MC39LT as the model no. for the new remote which hopefully means a light.
  7. You managed to get your E7W for US $100 near mint! I seem to remember that they were pretty expensive when they were first released (US $350 plus?) You must have been rapt to find a deal like that - good on you. Both the 606's are silver. At the time I got them from HyperJacks that was the only available colour. (I think I would have gotten one of the blue ones) It is a great model (if only it had a radio I would use it exclusively for listening) Nowdays I use one of the 606s and the 810 for playing/recording. I've just dusted off and tried the F40 (hell its bigger than I remember) the radio reception is as good as all the other models, the only drawback, apart from its humongous size and weight, is not being able to access the FM stations above 100MHz.
  8. Hi kurisu, I spent a long time trying to find a MZ E7W with no luck, they must be very collectable now. I can't help wondering why the wireless remote models never seemed to catch on. I have a couple of SP units the MZ R37 and the MZ F40. to tell the truth I haven't even used them for a couple of years, but I would use the F40 if I had to only because of the radio, even though the fm tuner only goes up to 100MHz.
  9. I found this forum some time ago on Google. For people like me (who are not very technically minded) that need information about what to buy, there is nothing better than reading the comments good or bad, about a unit you might be interested in. I read everything that I could find about a couple of units and thanks to the Mods and Members it made deciding on what to get much much easier. After being a guest on this forum for a while I decided to register, after all you never know what you might be able to offer someone else in the future.
  10. 44, got my first MD in 1997.

    Hi-MD in Australia?

Thats interesting news about Hi-MD in Oz. According to Sony NZ there won't be any units in this country until the end of this year. Strangely enough they were advertising the Hi-MD blanks for sale for about a month at a whopping US$ 9 each, but have since removed them from their website.
