    Cutting The Cord

Nope - got (and still am) caught up with other things.
  2. Yeah - I figured! Dreaming, I guess.
  3. I figured. Sigh... Is there a not so simple answer?
  4. Can the display of an NH900 be swapped out with a newer one? OLED? or back light added? I just can't STAND not being able to use the job dial in the dark. And, no, I'm not buying a new unit.

    Cutting The Cord

I just got some Shure E3s. Love 'em. But the cord is way too long when I attach my NH900 remote, which of course you need since the unit itself is not backlit . I'd love to modify them - cut the cord in half (or so) for more convenient use when using the remote and save that piece to be attached back on when NOT using the remote. Anyone ever done this?
  6. Hi Forum- I'm wondering about those little plastic boxes that Hi-MD's come packaged in. Looks like a cassette tape box, but a bit smaller. Anyway - when I bought my unit (NH900) it came with one disc and a plastic sleeve (barely bigger than the disc itself) it slips into. I like that WAY better than the cassette boxes my add'l HiMD's came in. Do Hi-MD's come packaged in those little sleeves? Can the sleeves be had separately? Thanks!
  7. Glad I asked! Hope you didn't lose anything in your "test!"
  8. So - is that what I'll get when I do the upgrade to SS 3.0, or do I have to go via the site here to further upgrade? Thanks for you help.
  9. Will that be a different Simple Burner than what I'll have after upgrading to SS3? My Simple Burner currently is v. 2.0. I'm a bit new in exploring all this...
  10. Hi forum- I routinely back up my entire PC to an external HDD using Norton Ghost 9.0. Will this serve to protect my SS library? Or do I still need to use the SS Back Up tool to ensure that restoration of my tunes would actually work because of the DRM issues... Thanks. Paula
  11. Hi again forum- I was going to update to SS3 (I've got 2.3) but noticed this little paragraph on the website: The following features of previous versions are not available in SonicStage® software Ver 3.0: EQ (equalizer), Effect (vocal canceller), Visualizer, encoding (ripping) CDs in WMA or OpenMG Audio PCM format, ripping CDs directly to connected portable devices, CD back-up function, and Analyzer Display (level meter, spectrum, waveform). Does this mean I won't be able to use simple burner to put CD's directly to my MD player? What else am I going to miss?

    Low Volume

US amazon.com. Actually, I just ordered the Shure EC2 phones. They have a 30 day money back guarentee, and I have a flight later this month, so the timing was perfect. But still, there SHOULD be a way to normalize when creating an MD, even if there ISN'T a way. You can do so when creating a CD - why not with an MD??

    Low Volume

Using some older sony phones that came with a walkman. Bought it at amazon.com. It's not that the unit is defective, it just seems to be the nature of classical music (wide volume range) vs. background noise. Which is why I'd like to try to "normalize" the music on the minidisc, as one can do when creating a CD.

    Low Volume

HI Forum- I use my MZ-NH900 primarily for classical music. I will often use Simple Burner to copy CD's on to an MD for portable listening/study. Other times I'll download classical tunes from Sony Connect. Either way, often the volume of the soft parts are too low to hear, even at full volume, when on a train, plane, or bus. Anything I can do here? I can't see any method to "normalize" the contents of a MD, or normalize during transfer, and I don't know if that would help, anyway. Renders the thing useless at times. Can't get any work done on a plane or bus. I am thinking of getting some better headphones (perhaps the Shure sound isolating earphones - they also need to be comfortable enough to sleep in, so I can use a meditation tape to convince myself to sleep on airplane, so I can perform well after corssing many time zones - and these fit the bill, I think.) Hoever, I would like to know if there is a software solution here. (BTW, I do not have the Automatic Volume Limiter System turned on.) Thanks.
  15. I'm am looking into getting the NH900 when it comes out, primarily to record live classical music (myself!). If I record in PCM format, can I upload it as such, or will Sonic Stage automatically reformat/compress it? Thanks
  16. As a muscian employed by an opera company, thank you for going to see the opera!
  17. Thanks for the info - Could I get around it in this manner? Record using a mike, put it on the computer, then use sonic stage to record back to the HI-MD machine in a format readable by std machines? (Thinking of getting the NH-900, primarily to record myself on flute, but would like to be able to snail mail such recording to folks with std machines...) Paula
  18. Iknow that HI-MD players/recorders will play std discs, and that I can use a reformatted std disc to record on a HI-MD maching BUT - can I record (microphone) using a HI-MD machine, using a standard disc (not reformatted to 300) such that the disc can be played on a std player?
