  1. Just like to show my appreciation to everyone who has helped me over the last week as I have gotten to know my new MZ-NH1 alot better, and now understand how it all works and the differernt file formats that come with it.

I recon that this forum site should be advertiesed more through MiniDisc selling shops, so new MD users can come here if puzzled :wacky: about something and most likely find a solution to their problems. (I sure did!)

As many know, Sony's help isn't the greatest, and being able to come here, post a question and within 24hrs an answer is returned, it is great!

So yeh, thanks heaps everyone!

    Very much appreciated,

    Andrew

  2. Thanks HEAPS for that Marco, very much appreciated. At home, I normally use Windows Media Player to copy my songs from CD to PC, and then I use the import tool in Sonic Stage to import the music off the hard drive. I then load the songs onto my MD at ATRAC3plus 256. Are you saying the sound will be as good as CD quality if I do it this way?

Thanks for that research, was excellent!

    Andrew

  3. All I can say is HURRY UP SONY. The main reason I bought my NH1 was to record myself playing my musical instrument, so I could then burn the recordings to CD!

And obviously I can't, so if Sony is monitoring this thread, can you please hurry up!!! Thanks! I'm also supprised they are offering this coverter for free!

  4. Yeh I read bout that last night, Jobs and Sony.

I think it would be allot easier overall if Sony changed their format, because then only Sony has to change the format and not Real One, Media Player... and all the others... unfortunately you can’t add in any other poll questions once it has been submitted sad.gif

If anyone knows how to edit the poll, let me know and I'll do so.

  5. I've just bought the MZ-NH1, it's very compact, I use the remote most of the time, becasue the buttons on the side are a bit to complex for me :S.... otherwise I recon it looks pretty snazzy in the siver casing it has biggrin.gif I am a proud owner biggrin.gif

Only bad thing, the small display on the acutal unit. The 3 lines of display on the remote are fine, and it loosk heaps good in the dark with the backlight blue screen! biggrin.gif

  6. I have just been to the Windows Media Player 10 page - http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windowsme...10/default.aspx

where they are launching their new 'improved' audio player. On the site it says that new to the Media Player, you can sync your portable audio device, with the media player, then it goes on to list all the devices it has support for.

    http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windowsme...vices/msfd.aspx

As you can guess, not ONE Sony device is listed, so I posted a thread on their forums asking why, and I was soon to realise that Sony haven't addressed Microsoft about venturing into this kinda thing, for the obvious reason that Sony has its own music format, and no player can recognise it.

I'd like to get everyone’s opinion as to what they think about this, because I am sure a lot of people use Media Player like myself, and being able to transfer files onto my MD through this would be a lot easier, but because of Sony’s s*** format, we can't.

I think Sony should hurry up with their ‘wav converter’ or not have their own crappy format that no one can use

  7. Listening to music on my Hi-MD at the moment. I have just changed all my music to 64kbps.... instead of the 48kbps I use to have. I must say that the quality isn't any better than 48, if not worse! I have also noticed that on the MD, it now says Hi-LP :| I am sure I had Hi-SP on before... how do I make sure it is Hi-SP and not LP?? Is it because I have gone to 64kbps, that it has changed to LP?

Thanks everyone for your help! Greatly appreciated

  8. Ok, thanks for that! I myself record in Hi-SP, because that records at 256kbps on the MD. When converting files onto the Hi-MD, it is also in Hi-SP at 64k. When I buy some 1GB discs, I think I'll upload everything to my MD as 256kbps... providing my tracks will fit on.

Thanks very much for all that info aeriyn and jadeclaw, very much appreciated

Edit: I am also annoyed and curious as to why Sony hasn’t allowed the 192kbps conversion rate, as it would be considered a big sound quality difference/gap between 64kbps and 256kbps. Anyone know the reason for this?

  9. Sorry, can someone post a link to this software please... I seem not able to get it from anywhere :S Thanks heaps!

    GREAT FIND!

I have also just been talking to Sony, they sell a cable down here in Australia, which you plug into your MD, then into your audio socket at the back of your pc, you just take the tracks off your MD that way, and it is automatically converted to .wav.

You might all know this... but thought I may as well put it up
