  1. I use a fairly new VAIO laptop which came preinstalled with Sonicstage4.0CP. I did an upgrade to 4.2 last Christmas, then last week, my VAIO Update manager prompted me to download SS4.3. In the product description page, it was stated that the only differences were: 1) Vista compatibility 2) Fixed some problems. I downloaded it anyway and did an install 2 days ago. Seems to work seemlessly and I didnt even need to make a backup of my 4.2 data for all my tracks to be migrated to 4.3. So far, no problems.
  2. Hmm... ignoring the DRM issues and HiMD overall, I'm very sure that 105kbps was indeed smaller in size to 132, and had a slight tingy effect upon listen, in MDLP players. Small price to pay for extra space. I could fit in about 3 hour albums into a single 80min MD in 105, but only 2 hours in 132! I dont get what you mean by padded. In HiMD, I only ever use 132kbs anyway... was hoping of just reusing 105 for my non HiMD equipment!
  3. Hi Avrin, Thanks for the pointers. I actually did read that thread, but you mentioned that it didnt work with NetMD!? Only in HiMD format. Is this true? I've half the mind to uninstall 4.2 and revert back to 3.4 which I actually found very good.
  4. Hey guys, I've just downloaded SS4.2 and starting to use it with my RH10 - works like a gem I must say! I've also just started using it with my old MDLP Net-MD mini-hifi...the CMT-M333NT. Thing is, I can't seem to find the 105kbps LP2 bitrate to encode with!! What ever happened to it- did Sony drop it!? I did a search on the SS Help and it is stated there that there should be option, but when I checked with the transfer settings, there're only 2 options, LP2 and LP4. And checking with the MD in my RH10, its definitely 132kbps. I'm a huge fan of 105kbps as I find the sound quality as excellent as 132, but being able to pack as much as 3 albums into an 80min MD. Pls help!
  5. Hmm... I had this slow transfer problem when I was on SS3.4. Ever since I upgraded to SS4.2, transfer has been very fast with my RH10. The conversion bit is usually the bottleneck for me.

Err.... havent you tried SonicStage 4.2?
  7. In Kuala Lumpur, you'd need to head to Sungai Wang Plaza or Low Yatt Plaza. These are situated in the golden triangle of KL. There should still be some shops in the mall carrying portables and blanks... some at very good prices.
  8. Reread all the posts here... and glad to say, I've done it!! Sounds great now!!! My MP3s now sound so much better with Custom Equalizer! THANKS GUYS!!!!
  9. Hi, I just bought the RH10. I tried the hack, successfully went into Service Mode... proceeded to Manual, to 0113, then the hex numbers at the bottom of 0113 started to move when I press volume. Do I just adjust the last 3 digits to 024 and ignore the digits in front of the last 3 digits which keep moving - I'm afraid of pressing set in case of buggering it up!!!! Its a european model, bought in UK. Pls help. I've tried twice but still couldnt find DistFL as mentioned. I've removed the battery without pressing set and it thankfully still works!!
  10. Guys, I'm looking for a good conditioned and affordable MZ-E10 player. Any offers?

    Hi-MD, Bye-MD?

Well...this is depressing news indeed. Sony would really be shooting themselves in the foot, knowing that they have/had a great product only let down by poor marketing and too many restrictions with copy control. Anyway, as my MD units have been reliable all this while, I reckon I'd still be using MDs for a loong time more....so it really doesnt affect me...although I would miss drooling over the new models.
