How do you overcharge? Isnt there a circuit somewhere which switches the charging off once the battery is 100% full... similar to laptop batteries?
-
Guitarfxr, hmm..contrary to what I've read, lithium batteries do not like full discharges and may never recover from a 100% discharge. But they like to be topped up frequently and kept at 80-100% charge as often as possible ... so your statement about overcharging has made me confused again.
-
Sorry but I dont think there is a way. Are you running SS in french? I much prefer the mixture of lower & upper cases though.
-
Sony likes to call the model names differently for the US market. Look at their Vaio laptop range and you'll know!
-
I dont get it ... if you had already converted all your mp3s to LP2, why didnt you just choose the standard transfer option (transfer AS IS without conversion) onto your RH10 and NetMD?
-
I cant answer most of your questions, but for (3), is your time-mark set to auto. If you disable it, it shouldn't break the recording into several tracks.
-
Just go straight for the newest 4.3!
-
1) It will only take MP3 files. 2) NetMD is one way traffic only - it allows you to transfer from PC to the MD only and not the other way around. 3) Check that the little tab on the bottom of the MD is slide to close the hole.

Thanks for that great read! I thought that japanese chick was hot!
-
Congrats buddy! The RH1 is sure something!!
-
Had the same problem and found out that the track needs to be encoded in MP3 already prior to transferring. Not sure about why HiMDrenderer freezes though ... I had no problems converting my OMA files to MP3 - quick and easy. But then again, I did decide to stick with XP and not change to vista yet!

What is the "greatness" of the RH710?
-
Besides looking retro-chic and sounding pretty damn awesome, the RH1 is IMHO pretty crap functionally. My greatest gripe was its lack of a Group button on the main unit as I hate using the remote with my PX100s. I mean, why bother shrinking it down on size but missing out on the vital button!! HiMD was meant to enable loads of tracks on one HiMD, so why cant i skip groups without resorting to the remote!!? I much prefer my RH10 for an everyday road warrior.

There isn't an ON/OFF button any longer. You press any button and it should switch on. Leave it for couple of seconds and it should switch off.

Hi trager, I dont think its possible. What you should've done is record one of your B-sides in a group (this creates a new group), then switch group off and record the rest. Then you should be able to move the remaining tracks into this B-side group. Another alternative method is to connect to Sonicstage and do the arranging there... I think the "later" units were more designed to be connected to a PC.

Hmm syko, I think I beg to differ. 128kbps MP3 sounds slightly better than Hi-LP no doubt, but not as bright or clean as LP2 132kbps.
-
Have you tried completely uninstalling sonicstage, then reinstalling BEFORE you connect the MD via USB?
-
Hi there... sorry to say, there is no direct way. Sonicstage requires you to perform a backup using its own backup tool before you had reformatted your drive. I transferred all my music which sat on an external hard drive successfully to work on my new laptop using the backup tool so no complains for me.

Maybe I have fat fingers or maybe my hand-eye coordination is getting slow with age... but HOW the hell do you guys manage to get the hack in so quickly? I barely reached the "pause pause" key sequence before my unit decides to go to sleep and powers itself down. I've done the hack for my RH10 previously without fail but on the RH1, the tiny and difficult to press buttons (esp the T-mark) makes it so difficult to do!!!

I've had the RH1 for about 3 weeks now. Here are some opinions: 1) THE BIGGEST gripe I have with the RH1, is the lack of functionality on the main body. I've gotten accustomed to listening on my Sennheiser PX100s and on my RH10, I've done away with the remote control. With the RH1, I've found that the remote control port is a totally hopeless design error. The cable should be headed TOWARDS the display, not away. When I sit at my desk or when the unit is sitted in the pouch, I want the cable to be directed towards me as the display faces me... not 180 degrees away!! 2) The lack of a Group button is a real pain... couldnt they have just added ONE more button where the volume control is. I simply can't believe they couldnt have resolved this. My MZ-E10 is way smaller and thinner than this unit and still has the GROUP button on the main unit. 3) The EJECT button is a nuisance. Pressing Play on the unit sometimes causes the EJECT button to engage instead. 4) The MENU on the main body is a f**kin waste of time. Why do I need FW Version for? 5) Compared with my RH10, I've found no significant differences in SQ which was quite a disappointment. Yeah, MP3s sound better than before but I've never bothered with MP3s to begin with (most of my CDs are encoded in LP2). If not for its nice light weight and overall tactility (nice touch)... I wouldnt hesitate for a second to flog it off ... as I find my trusty RH10 to be so much more sexier overall (except for its weight!!!) and has all the features on the main body.

Yes, I briefly went through the manual of your Kenwood player, and it didnt take my japanese to know that your car headunit does not support MDLP. You did not mention what MD recorder do you have? If its a higher end one with Digital Line-In, you could always do real time manual recording by connecting the MD recorder via fibre optic cable to your MD. You would obviously need to set the recorder to record in SP-Mode. That should be ATRAC and would most likely play on your car unit. If I'm not wrong, if you have the MZ RH1, you can use Sonicstage to download tracks onto your MD in SP. <unsure, still a newbie in RH1 > Hope that helps.

Try playing a CD you bought and not burned! If that doesnt play as well, then it looks like your player is dead. You won't be able to play tracks recorded on Sonicstage... I went thru the manual very quickly and it states that its not MDLP or NetMD compatible. This simply means your MD player is only ATRAC compatible. (MDLP is ATRAC3)

I have the MZ-N505 and the MZ-E10. The 505 is almost 6 years old and running along quite nicely, although on and off, it doesn't want to record. The E10 is an awesome piece of machinery and to me, gives pure character to why MDs are wayyy cooler than any flash player. From the almost flimsy cover to that super wafer thin size, its almost poetry in motion listening to music on it while just admiring it as it whirs and works away. There's something magical about how such micro-components work ... plus, being a mechanical engineer myself, I'm always pondering on how those guys packaged such a work of art! The sound of the E10 is also one of the best around I think.

Hey raintheory, after some experimenting, I've found that the gaps vanished if I transferred the tracks As Is... but were there when I did a downgrade or optimise to a lower bitrate. I'm recording on Hi-MD mode on an 80-min MD. My laptop is a SZ VAIO with Centrino Duo Core, XP Pro SP2. As far as I can recall, never had such problems in previous versions of SS.

Hi there... has anyone tried transferring a mix album (non-stop - dance music, DJ mix etc) via SS4.3 to Hi-MD!? I recently downloaded and installed SS4.3 ... seems all my DJ mixed music library now has GAPS in between tracks when I transfer them to BOTH my RH10 and RH1!! They play gapless on SS4.3 itself, but not so when the music sits on Hi-MD. I can understand if the tracks were ripped from MP3s, but these music tracks were ripped directly from my CD to ATRAC3 (LP2) in SS4.0 previously. I've always rip them into LP2 as I also have a NetMD device (non ATRAC3Plus) Is there a fix to this or should I revert back to SS4.0 (which actually worked flawlessly for me!!!)
