You have to buy 10 to get them at that price though. Anyone living near Harrow can pop into Harrow Audio and buy 1 MB discs over the counter for £3-95, even if they only buy one of them. They are cheap for 80 min. ones too (pack of 10 Sony Neige for £6-50). They do mail order too under the name "Pricebusters", but the postage bumps the price right up. Don't go there next Saturday 1 July though as it's closed for the day according to a notice in their window! Pricebusters

Harrow Audio has the MZ-NH600 for just under £100. They are a reputable company trading for many years to my knowledge(I live near Harrow); o.k., the 600 doesn't have any bells and whistles, but mine is permanently hooked up to my p.c. and does a great job. Here is the link: My Webpage

I used a normal MD disc formatted in MD mode.
-
Yes I am, and on closer inspection of the manual I've found the following paragraph: "Tracks transferred from the computer in "Net MD" mode or tracks purchased through EMD services and transferred to the recorder can be transferred only to the same computer from which they originally came from."
-
Looking at the various posts on this forum, I had understood that recordings made via the computer with a USB cable to an MD formatted disc couldn't be uploaded with the MZ-RH1. A couple of weeks ago I ripped a CD with MD Simple Burner in LP2 format using my MZ-NH600. Just for fun I tried to upload one track today with my new MZ-RH1 just to see what happened, and it transferred perfectly. Maybe I've misunderstood something in the previous posts?

The RH1 has an integrated clock which stamps the recording time and date.

E1ghtyf1ve is right - it's just a rebadged RH1. How do I know? I bought an RH1 yesterday, and the instruction manual covers both models: the only difference appears to be that the MZ-M200 comes with a stereo mike. So no big screen.

I have just bought one from the Sony Centre in Harrow; it was the only one they had had supplied to them apart from the display model.
-
And so does mine, bought in England.
-
Sony Centre in Watford had them a few weeks back in a bubble pack of two for £9-99.
-
Just tried my NH600 with a remote and it works just perfectly.
-
And mine is very definitely a 600 not a 600D.
-
Well, my NH600 has a normal headphone/remote socket - see photo: NH600 I bought mine in Argos Watford about 6 months ago when they were selling them off for just under £70 and leave it permanently connected to my p.c.

Yes, the spine labels aren't easy to start with! However, once you've tried and messed up one or two you can judge where to position the text without too much problem! For the MD front labels by the way, I get my artwork from Amazon.

John Lewis in Watford had some 1 GB MDs on Tuesday for £5-50. Last time I went to Watford (December) the Sony shop had packs of two for £9-98, but they didn't have any this week. Kyle, which Waitrose did you get those MDs from? The Waitrose I go to (South Harrow) always has packs of 10 TDKs, but at £11-99 not £6-99! Meant to say that Discount Discs in the UK have plenty of 1 GB MDs at competitive prices. I've dealt with them several times and they provide a fast, reliable service.

When I record with my Pure Bug DAB Radio onto an SD card, I transfer the recording (which is indeed an .mp2)to Audacity on my p.c. so I can edit it, and Audacity just uploads it and recognizes it as an .mp3 without needing to convert it.

I've been heavily into DAB radios for about 2/3 years now and they're just great. Be aware that, in the UK, Pure Digital are bringing out their Evoke-3 stereo radio in February, which looks like the mother and father of all DAB radios. It records to SD card (up to 1 GB), has a pause feature (in case you get a phone call while you're listening to something), a digital out and digital in for recording to and playing from MD, and a host of other features. See here: Pure Evoke-3. OK, it costs £200 but sounds worth it.

I use Pressit MD labels (60 face labels + 60 spine labels per pack)which I get from Discount Discs in the UK, and which are used with exPressit software downloaded from www.pressit.com. They're great.

I don't have an N1 but I'm presuming it has the same kind of standard 3v adapter which fits my NH-900 and RH10. The 6v adapter for the NH1 has a larger diameter barrel which doesn't fit these units.

I picked up a real bargain yesterday at Comet South Ruislip: packs of five TDK 74-minute XS-iV MDs for just 99p a pack. Don't all rush there as I bought the only four packs they had left. I'd bought some previously when they were selling them off at £3-98 a pack which I thought was good, and they work just fine. The only ones I've ever had a problem with are Sharp MDs which my MZ-R900 just refused to record on, though they were fine with all my other MD units, and the MZ-R900 was happy with every other MD blank I ever chucked at it.

You and I must have got the last two RH10s from Unbeatable Imzu - I got mine last week too and am delighted with it. When I try to search for Minidisc on their site I now get nothing other than car minidiscs and decks - no portables at all. How could people fail to be impressed with MD if only Sony had marketed it properly? I try to convert everyone I meet - it's a wonderful medium. I hope my little stash of portables and couple of decks will last me a good few years yet.

Well I tried that and thought at first it was the answer, but it wasn't. It played the first six tracks of an album with no problem. I turned it off for ten minutes, turned it on again and it wouldn't play track 7; it showed track 7 and the title of it, and the little disc icon was turning round and the unit was whirring as though it was trying to play it, but in the end it just gave up. My considered technical assessment is that it's knackered.
-
Well I shall try that, though the indicator showed there was life in the exisiting one, and I'm pretty sure that when I was recording I had the thing plugged into the mains, so I don't really think it was that. Thanks anyway and I'll let you know what happens.

Am having problems with my MZ-NF810. I first noticed it when I hooked it up to the radio and started recording, and about five minutes later I checked on it, and it had switched itself off. I tried again and the same thing happened. Now it is doing the same when playing MDs; it takes a while to recognise them and start playing them, but when it does it plays them for several minutes and then switches off and when I try to start playing the MD again it won't. I did have a problem with the unit not closing, but I bent the catch slightly and now it seems to close just fine, so I don't imagine it's that. The unit is about 16 months old, but hardly used; it was never any good for transferring via SonicStage or Simple Burner as it always conked out just near the end of transferring an album, but it always recorded and played with no problem. Any ideas anyone?

Like Kev on page 1 of this thread, I have a black MZ-NH900 and am delighted with it. However, I'm surprised he says the back of his is plastic. Mine isn't, it's metal. Took delivery a month or so back from Amazon UK at the bargain price of £149-99 delivered, though they put the advertised price up about two days after I'd ordered it and also I had to wait about 4 weeks for it, and I don't know where they were sourcing it from.
